gamerdude132
I'm writing this as I listen to my "Fallout Awesomeass Music Stufficleez" playlist to really get me thinking, as well as me switching between here and New Vegas... and I'll still have to edit this post later because I forgot something. Just a warning. 1. Character continuity - This is something I'll give Bioware since their betrayal, that system of theirs that lets you take a previous character from a previous game and integrate all of his choices into this new game is just a brilliant thing. And I'd like to see something similar in here. Because, let's think about this. Fallout: New Vegas. You made your choices and watched the ending cutscene... but do you ever really get to actually EXPERIENCE the changes you've done? No. Either make a sequel game that allows you to continue on with the same character and choices or... 2. DON'T MAKE THE GAMEPLAY FINITE, DAMMIT! - I hate it when you've spent a good 100 hours or so with a character and your companions and such... maybe you've found every location and found every unique weapon, note, and finished every quest and you really love this character... then the game just ends. Like, really? I pretty much 100% a specific kind of character and now I don't even get to see the crap I've done? I just hear some more "War. War never changes" bull*blank* and the game ends. Frakkin' brilliant. /s STOP ENDING THE GAME, FOR *BLANK*'S SAKE! DUMBASS SUPER MUTANT SMASH!! 3. More... romance? - Now let's get something straight, Fallout is not a "romance simulator", I know that. But, let's face it, almost every guy who's played New Vegas (or girl, if you're bi/bicurious/lebian) has loved the characters of Cass and/or Veronica. They're so damn lovable. So, why should I spend 90% of my adventures with Cass in particular, but she never gets past that "Yeah, you just saved me from that hellhole, and that's all" phase. Come on, I gave Cass Vera's outfit from Dead Money and she looks damn hot (never thought I'd say that about a Gamebryo model), and she's fiesty. WHY CAN'T MY CHARACTER GET SOME GOOD LOVING FROM CASS? Or, at least kiss the damn girl. Come on, deeper character relationships should be inserted here than this just "Fine, here's my personal history" thing. Why can't I act like a friend to Arcade Gannon and he say something about me being his best friend or something (Oh, and notice how I'm using New Vegas characters as examples. Really well done characters.)? 4. More items to scavenge - Everybody here knows what I'm talking about. We're sick and friggin' tired of grabbing empty syringes, Pre-War money, scrap metal, plates, spoons, forks, tin cans, vacuum cleaners, leather belts, boxes of abraxo cleaner, sugar bombs, whiskey, Jet, and 10mm pistols. We've now gone an entire franchise, and there's not a single game where you go "SINCE WHEN THE FRAK DID THEY PUT THIS FRIGGIN' EVERYWHERE?!" or "WHO IN HAROLD'S NAME KEEPS 60 *insert item name here*?! WHO, FRAKKIT?!?!" Give us more items, dammit. If you don't, I'll head straight to Oasis and burn Harold during my current playthrough of F3. *sigh* Such nerd rage here... 5. Revisit some more characters! - Fallout: New Vegas (again, the prime example here for characters) was going on the right track here with Marcus and some of the Enclave Remnants who retold tales of the tribal of Fallout 2 fame. Now, the next time we explore the wastes somewhere a few years after New Vegas, let's see someone like Moira, Cass, Boone, Christine (from Dead Money), or someone else reappear. It's nice to see some familiar faces around the wastes... makes things like less lonely. 6. Better graphics - Okay, I get that graphics are not as important as gameplay, yes, I get that... but graphics that aren't all that better from 2006's Oblivion are simply NOT acceptable. Oblivion looked great back in 2006, it still barely passed in 2008, and it was starting to get slightly criticized in 2010. I've always liked to see the Fallout universe rendered exceptionally beautifully, bringing the real Wasteland to life. And now that Zenimax (Beth Soft's parent company) now owns id Software and it's technology, I'd simply be in immediate heaven if my favorite franchise had a game rendered with beautiful graphics such as id Tech 5's. But let's also keep something in mind, when I say I want better graphics, I also mean that the G.E.C.K. must be upgraded. I'm not excluding a tool that has enhanced an already great franchise just to get better graphics. 7. MORE DAMN VOICE ACTORS - 'Nuff said. 8. Better inventory management - I don't know about you, but I have a few VERY BIG problems with this right here.(A). Too friggin' slow. They have tried to remedy this with hotkeys, but no, it just doesn't "work" like that. And it's even more frustrating for those who have been diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and are OBSESSED with making sure every list is at the very top, the maps are pulled all the way out, and everything is set to the default thing on the left (Weapons within Items, Local Map within Data, etc.), then set at the status screen. So, let's say I want to put some armor on and slip into some Caesar's Legion camp all disguised... So, I bring up my Pip-Boy 3000 Unit from Mr. House's own RobCo Corp., go to Items, select the armor subcategory, scroll down in some cases, select the armor, scroll back up, click the weapons subcategory again, then go back to my Status screen, then I can finally exit my Pip-Boy... This... is... FRAKKING... ANNOYING AS SHIZNIT. Here's an idea! Be able to Hit 'I' to bring up an inventory screen, then have a much larger amount of items on screen than just 8 or whatever (cause, let's face it, 8 really isn't a lot for Fallout), then select sub-categories from there, grab what you want, then shut it down as soon as you have what you want... I'm of course talking from a PC gamer's perspective, but more on that later. (B). GET RID OF QUEST ITEMS AFTER THE HAROLDDAMN QUEST IS DONE! - As I said before, I have OCD and I MUST have my inventory clean as hell. So, you can image my displeasure when I have 25+ things from Quests that I can't EVER get rid of without the help of a mod... and let's face it, the mods that have been created, while somewhat helpful, aren't updated enough and don't include EVERY quest item in the game. And since I'm a completionist, I do all the quests in the game, or I kill somebody on a spree and loot his hat, only to find out it won't go away (Motor-Runner and some Caleb dude in New Vegas). And if we kill someone before we GET the quest, just take it from out inventory and put it into some box that only gives you items you need for your active quests... Don't let us carry those damn things around, ESPECIALLY things as pointless as the Codac camera that Michael Angelo gives you... It's unnecessary and annoying, to say the least. 9. No multiplayer! - Yes, NO multiplayer. You want multiplayer in Fallout, wait foe Fallout Online. Don't go ruining an almost PERFECT single-player experience just so you and 3 buddies or whatever can blast each other in the face with Fat Man's. That is all. 10. Fallout has always been built as a CRPG... KEEP IT EXACTLY THAT. - This is a gripe I've had with a lot of developers these days. Whether it's Bioware consolizing themselves into some company that makes some stupid Mass Effect game or CD Projekt Red that's porting their CRPG's onto consoles, I'm NOT appreciating this. PC has not had a proper EXCLUSIVE for years. And hell, The Witcher 1 just barely qualifes, but only because CD Projekt got lazy and decided not the finish the console versions... So why can't Fallout be the poster boy for PC RPG's again? It was one of the best RPG games of 1998 and 1999, to compete with both Bioware and Blizzard's great RPG's of the time, so with a chance at the truly PC spotlight, why not go for it? It'll make development easier, make bugs disappear, and make Fallout better overall when they only have to worry about the biggest community for it. Sorry to say, but Fallout is biggest on PC both because it's one of the few more complex RPG's where choices matter and gameplay is slower, and because the modding community for it now is so great that it serves as a tool to help developers know what the community wants in the game. Now, I'm not saying I'm not gonna buy the next game if they make it on consoles or something, but come on. The PC is what made Bioware famous. The PC is what made Blizzard famous, Maxis famous, Epic famous, 3D Realms/Triptych/Gearbox famous, Bungie famous, and DEFINITELY Fallout famous... let there be ONE PC exclusive game that everyone will beef up their computers to play... Fallout is my favorite franchise is any form of media. I want to see as a the flagship game for the best system (despite how frustrating and expensive said system may be). It's what Fallout deserves. Now that I've concluded this EPICLY LARGE RANT that took longer the write than the NMC's Texture Pack for Fallout:NV, I shall ask all fellow Fallout fans what YOU'D like to see, what you agree with, what you disagree with, and whatever else to have to say to just say it. Now, it is 2:40 AM. I'm going to bed. Goodnight, everyone and happy prospecting!
marharth
Agree with everything here besides the graphics. I don't want graphics updated AT ALL. Requires people to upgrade their system, the graphics are fine as is.
gamerdude132
Well, at least someone replied... Now, let's think about the graphics part a bit. You're wanting to make Fallout to continuously be built on a buggy as hell engine that has ugly graphics because... it requires people to upgrade their system? That's like saying "I think StarCraft II's graphics should've been the same as the originals, because better graphics requires people to upgrade their system." The problem with that is that people have ALREADY upgraded their PC's to play newer games such as Crysis 2 and the upcoming Battlefield 3. When a lot of PC gamers are continuously upgrading their rigs, why should Fallout's graphics not continue to upgrade as well? And thanks for the reply, man. =D
marharth
Never said anything about the engine, just said the graphics don't need to change much. I don't see much reason to keep upgrading graphics anyways. It looks a bit nicer, it doesn't change gameplay or the story.
gamerdude132
Sorry, but in this day and age, those graphics just WON'T cut it. It's unfortunate if you can't afford to upgrade, but when it comes to helping the gameplay, bad graphics don't contribute too much to immersion. Think about this, the minimum year until the next Fallout major release is 2012. In 2012, we're going to have graphics that are 6 years old? Nopers. huntsman2310a
a good alternative engine for the next Fallout to be on would be the X-ray engine, you know the STALKER games? But I have a good feeling that the next Fallout will be on Skyrim's engine.
marharth
Graphics aren't updating much anytime soon. We have been using the same graphics system for years, its just a matter of polygon count. Edited August 10, 2011 by marharth
MoonHoplite
More lore would be nice. The story and themes in this game are interesting but not very deep. I also like the comedic flavours in the game. I dont mind graphics. As long as it has a solid physics engine and immersive effects. There also needs to be better music or more tracks. ita
If Fallout 4 has good quests and writing, I'll play it even if the graphics are made up of ASCII characters.
JakeGilla
Fallout does need more voice actors and we'll likely see better a better inventory system thanks to Skyrim, but everything else.... is for the birds. Fallout going PC exclusive would kill the franchise, you need money to make vido games.
