Newbie with questions about modding

Hello, All. I have always played Oblivion and loved all the houses and the whole world, how it all fit together. When I learned of mods, I fell in love with the game all over again and then I saw that people were making castles and towns and this really intrigued me, however, I had no idea on how to do such a feat. I realized you might need Blender or some 3d program but other than that, I am clueless,

So I am asking to be pointed in the right direction. I want to make something simple like this hut: http://ljosa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=releases&action=display&thread=3627

I was wondering what was the best program for making buildings and if there is any kind of tutorial for importing the projects from the program to oblivion or how that all went. How people inserted NPCs and their text and add thge place markers to the map and all that. It's really interesting and I would really appreciate a little help, thank you.

I have searched for tutorials but to no avail, and with all the links its becoming overwhelming

Lots of patience. Learning modding takes time. Making a building is just the first step. Then you will want to furnish it, then add an NPC or two, then a script to make the NPC do something , then a quest related to your new house & it's NPC and on and on - it can become addictive.

Be willing to scrap you entire mod several times and start over. Sometimes that is easier than fixing a major mistake.

Have a separate clone of your game just for modding. Check out mtes4manager to see how - http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35263

Also, read this.

Seriously. Good info for a beginner. Heck, the entire CS Wiki is great info for even the most seasoned of modders, but you should start there.

Edit: Wrong link, heh. Fixed now!
