Try renaming it Fallout_default.ini and double check that you put in the fallout new vegas folder (under SteamApps\Common) rather than Fallout New Vegas (the top file).

it did nothing it still says when i try to run fallout new vegas that i have no ini :(

Verifying your cache should reset it and give you a new one then. If not then it looks like you'll have to delete the whole game and reinstall it, but it shouldn't have to come to that.

im gonna have to take up your time again but i need to ask how do i verify my cache..again sorry for taking up your time

No prob, just go online to Steam , click Library, right click Fallout New Vegas, go down and click Properties, then click Local Files and click Verify Integrity of Game Cache. It will then do it's thing and download whatever is lacking. It doesn't open a download window so just give it time and if you're quick you'll notice a rapid download bar at the bottom of that window and a very quick confirmation that files have been downloaded.
