Fallout New Vegas Crashes to Desktop, Can't Play

So, last night, I got a problem. FONV has always worked pretty well for me. I've always had plenty of mods, and while sometimes I got a start-up crash from a few conflicting, I could always fix the issue, change load order, etc.

Anyways, last night I decided to attempt to install FOOK. I went with manual installation, and immediately, my game began to crash. So I removed the mod, installed it automatically through FOMM, following the Readme. Same thing happened, so I went through and deleted every resource from FOOK from my data folder.

But this did not fix the issue. I tested all my mods, and the only way to keep from immediately crashing once the game came up was to turn off all mods - although once I attempted to load a save, it would immediately crash to desktop again. I uninstalled FOMM, deleted all mods, and had the same issue. Eventually, I reinstalled New Vegas. I installed some of my old mods, and when the game worked, decided to give FOOK another try. I followed the Readme exactly, and again, it caused crashes. Removing/turning it off also did not fix the issue.

So, I reinstalled the first time. I got rid of my saves, everything related to Fallout New Vegas and FOMM. It was a completely clean install. The game started fine, so I decided to try reinstalling my mods which had always worked together in the past. Cinematech, Dynavision, Electro-City, UHNV, to name a few. Set up the load order perfectly, and this time around, left FOOK completely alone.

But, now I can't even play. Trying to boot the game causes it to immediately crash to Desktop, with Win7 giving a generic error about the App crashing. Have no idea what's causing it. Even turning off my mods isn't working now. I've tried System Restores, I've tried clearing out possible registry entries. I have NO idea what's causing the crashes, and would really like some help. Fallout 3 works fine, and it has mods as well. What the hell went wrong? Is their any way to find out?

Are you using all the latest versions of your mods? FOOK was updated last week (2Aug). Many mods constructed from the old GECK and pre-1.4 patch are causing problems for many people. As well, before you reinstalled did you completely wipe the game (all folders) and the save file? (If you simply 'uninstall' and reininstall many legacy files remain because reinstall simply replaces the default folders and leaves all the old mod folders in place.)

I just downloaded FOOK, and had to redownload many of my mods. So, they should all be up to date.

The first time I reinstalled, I simply cleared out the Fallout New Vegas folder. The second time I did, I deleted all the save, the Prefs, the entire New Vegas folder, as well as some registry entries pertaining to New Vegas, After I had done this, without installing any mods the game at least loaded (although I did not attempt to start a new game). I installed about 8 of my old mods that had worked fine together before my attempted install of FOOK. This time, I did not try to install FOOK along with them - but I still had the same issue.

I even did a completely clean install of FOMM.

Definitely a mod conflict then. Try wiping your mods again, verify your cache (to reset everything) start a new game vanilla and save after you leave Doc's house. Then reinstall your mods one at a time (saving again after every success) and see what happens. Actually, some people have been having trouble with FOMM since the latest patch. I haven't but mine's installed in my FO3 folder although I haven't the slightest idea why that would make a difference. Some have had luck with eliminating Fomods and doing only manual mod installs. {And, of course, disable all auto and quick save functions, although I found the game game autosaves after Doc finishes his first speech and you construct your character's face, regardless.) Not that's it's any consolation but even with the latest FOOK I haven't been able to get it work with my game.

So here's an update.

After removing all mods, I attempted installing two fomod packets. One was a body replacer and a face pack. When I did this, the game immediately crashed, like always.

I deleted those, and without using FOMM at all, I manually installed the same body replacer, as well as a few other mods. The game worked fine, and I was able to play.

So then I used FOMM to toggle Archive Invalidation, and booted through it using the NVSE option. I had no packets activated, and had not installed anything with the Packet manager. It still worked.

So, my guess is that something is wrong with my Packet Manager, or Fomod, maybe? Any fixes? Also, I've had 3 Ojo Bueno files (inactive) in my packet manager for weeks. However, trying to delete them gives me an error that crashes FOMM. It's a crash that seems common among FOMM users, however.
