Wacky theory...

What if TES VI is actually set during the conquest of Morrowind? Does the timeline in these games always have to be linear?

It has been up to now. Regardless of whether they go forwards or backwards though, I would happily bet millions on the fact that it will be Black Marsh. That's where everything is happening right now for one thing. Secondly, it would be awesome *whimsical sigh*

I do not believe any adventure will actually take place in Akavir (soon anyway)...but I am lobbying to have the Akaviri invade Tamriel and become the antagonists that way

Nothing like a war story

I wish Bethesda would show some love for Akavir, that's been one of the most interesting places other than Tamriel, the Tang Mo, Ka Po Tun, Tsaeci (I'm probably not spelling them right.), I'd love to meet them all in-game.

As would we all. But just think about how much s**t has just gone down in Tamriel. The Empire is crumbling, Vvardenfell has been destroyed due to a floating island which wrought death upon any beneath it, civil war in the province of Skyrim and now the return of the dragons. I've got quite enough to research for the moment without having to learn all the extra lore that would come with going over a whole continent.

That being said, however, I would be quite happy if a DLC involved an invasion by Akavir. That would make sense (them taking advantage of Tamriel's weakened state) and would provide for an interesting plot-line as to how you would help take them down once more.

Pale Pass, baby, one of the best quest lines in Oblivion

btw,

Vvardenfell has been destroyed due to a floating island which wrought death upon any beneath it

It was the Ministry of Truth that fell out of the sky destroying Vvardenfell. Umbriel was the floating city that destroyed the Argonian city of Lilmoth. Sorry to be a research pig

Plus, it is the TigerDragon emperor's stated goal to invade and conquer Tamriel....so why not do it?

Taken from UESPWiki

Covered in orange and black scales, he is the largest dragon on Nirn, and it's believed that his eventual goal is to invade Tamriel.[3]
