jaredx19
Hi,I noticed there's a seam between the neck and upperbody mesh which cannot be avoided because of how FaceGen works. However, it can be minimized as my own player character prove. My problem is this. When I load Fallout.exm, with Dimon99 Type 3 Base HD mesh and it's default textures installed, I get this for Siera Petrovita and Brianna. Notice that both character are Caucasian race, but their upperbody tint differ wildly. There are several other NPC which have their upperbody tinted like Brianna, regardless of the race. What I would like to know is how to control the tint of the upperbody skin. Why this problem persist even in game. I've tested this problem with Fallout 3 v1.7 and GECK v1.5, Type 3 Replacer v3.5, and Quarn's manual ArchiveInvalidation pack. Please helpTIA
PoisonedPawn
I'm having a similar problem, and it doesn't matter whether I have body mods installed or not. Any NPC I create has an extremely pale skin tone on their body, regardless of the tone I've chosen for their head. However, this is not an issue for NPCs I didn't create or my own character. The skin tones match perfectly in that case. Also, when I deactivate archive invalidation, all of my characters change to pale-toned Caucasian race, even my Asian, Hispanic and African American NPCs. Does anyone know why this is happening or how it may be fixed?
NUKER0001
I don't know if this will help, but I remember seeing this problem on the 360 on a few that had the upperbody skin that was showing, My friend was playing Fallout NV and said He saw 1 NPC Caucasian head and black body (or was that the other way around, ether way), and I was doing Anchorage and I had Magic Fingers and started striping everyone and some of them not only had the skin problem but 2 sex bodys, and I don't have a body mod that should effect them (I have 1 for hair, 1 for kids cuz of Companion mods, and 1 for raiders)! So I think your problem is in the Fallout game it self and not any mod!
PoisonedPawn
I found a solution, though you may not necessarily consider it ideal. For whatever reason, converting your esp file into an esm fixes the pale body issue. To do this, download FO3 Plugin 1.8: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5104 Open the program, and then open your esp. Go File --> Save As... and save it as "Your Mod Name.esm". If your mod includes meshes, textures, etc. you'll also need a BSA file. You can do that in Fallout Mod Manager by following the instructions on this page: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:xwWyEl3gQFMJ:www.fooknv.com/forum/showthread.php%3Ft%3D202+how+to+turn+an+esp+file+into+an+esm&cd=6&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca&source=www.google.ca Obviously, just keep working on your mod as an esp until it's ready to be released. I've tested it and the esm thing worked for me. I can't speak to the BSA stuff as I have no need for one.
BlackRampage
Try running Fo3 Edit in masterupdate mode.
jaredx19
Thanks for the info, guys. The ESP to ESM solution works, although I can't figure why. What's more, I find it curious that if I put an NPC into an ESM, then later radically change it (the skin) in another ESP down the line, it also work fine. For example, I edit Clover's name and change it back again so I can put her into an ESP, then change it to ESM by FOMM, and later create another ESP, now with real face/skin change, the skin in the ESP will match as long as the 1st ESM is loaded. Note that in the 1st ESM, no FaceGen editing done whatsoever. I verify this at least on 2 separate mods, modifying different characters. So, it seems there's a cure for head/body texture mismatch with all the vanilla ESM NPC's. Just put them unchanged in a separate ESM, then NPC modifying mods don't need to be promoted to ESM for skins to work correctly. The problem is, is there an app which could batch extract the NPC data from ESM/ESP and put it in another ESM/ESP. With thousands of NPC's in vanilla FO3, doing it by hand is a chore at least
