SolarFire
For some odd reason, some NPCs, like Astia Inventius and Glarthir, just vanished from my game. I try to placemeat to them, but it tells me 'could not parse this line.', and I'm guessing that means it could not find that player ID. Can someone tell me what is up with my game? Most appreciated. Hickory
Yes, you are using console commands that you do not understand. Never, ever, use placeatme (not placemeat) when it can be avoided, as it will end up causing bloat in your saved games. Whenever you suspect that an NPC has disappeared (they probably haven't really disappeared, unless they are not essential and have been killed), look up the NPC on UESP and get their RefID. Type into the console: prid xxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxx is the RefID of the character. Now type: moveto player They will pop up right at your feet. Do NOT save your game after this. Do it only to check if they have disappeared or not.
SolarFire
Well, what do I do for quests that involve those NPCs? If I can't save after I spawn them at me, how will I be able to go to them and do the quest?
Balakirev
Did you do as he suggests, to find if they were in the game, and just not around your character? Because if they are there, then your problem is solved. You just missed their schedules.
SolarFire
It tells me it is an invalid ID. I'm using this for Astia Inventius 0000A29E

Ok, the idea of the game is to find the NPC that is part of the quest, not to have them placed or teleported to you -- you may break other quests by doing that. So play the game; make the quest your active quest and follow the quest marker; look on UESP, as most NPCs have schedules. One travels all over Tamriel, for instance. Have fun. By quest, I mean that I have a mod that makes her sell paintings, and I need to find her so I can get the painting. o_O
