Natterforme
I have been working on several weapons that use projected on textures. My main question is if I can upload files that are original models if the textures use screenshots, ingame pictures, or offically released posters/wallpapers(by the owning company, high quality images) that have been projected on to the proper place on the weapon/clothing/armor. Im just asking because I dont want to step on toes. If I were to release mods that had such content, I would credit the proper game owners for making the original model/textures that my model/textures are based off of. I would claim credit for making my model, but not for the textures used. Would this follow the rules? Or would I get a ban or a cease and desist notice? I would appreciatte serious answers, and possibly an opinion of a moderator who knows that sort of legal jargon well. Thank you for your time^^. MShoap13
Using any resources from any copyrighted material in your mod and releasing it to the public is illegal. Getting the owner's explicit permission could make it legal but the Nexus doesn't allow you to share mods that contain resources from other copyrighted material with or without consent. Natterforme
Ok. So two things. 1. Does this mean that I cant use youtube screenshots to any project from view textures? Even swords? 2. Does this mean that as long as I only use those screenshots as a reference(for colors and detail placement) I can upload that content without fear of getting in trouble. The last thing I want to do is get banned over something like this. Thank you for your time^^.

Keirgarth
From what I can tell they are saying that you can't have any copyrighted material in your mod unless you are the owner of the copyright. The reason for this I am sure is that they are unable to verify that you do or don't have permission to use other peoples work. Best suggestion would be to look up the copyright laws and see what it says about content. Usually this means that if you are using a portion of an image in your work that you can't use more than a specific percentage of that image in your work without permission. It is OK to use other peoples work as a reference as long as you don't use their work. This doesn't mean that you can duplicate their work through copying pixels or changing the colors of the pixels and retaining their work in your work. But what about other mods(such as weapons) that clearly show projected on textures, that are uploaded here? Do they know something I dont? Or is it so minor that it doesnt matter? Keirgarth
They are probably using such a small portion of an image that it doesn't offend a copyright.
