Fallout 3 better or worse then New Vegas?

I prefer Fallout 3's story and setting but admit that NV has a thousand times better dialogue.

Asking which one is better is total nonsense. The world is not so black and white that everyone must choose only one. I for one started with Fo1 and enjoy all the Fallouts rather equally, sans Tactics and FOBOS.

actually I just wanted to see if I was the only one who felt like FNV was seriously lacking, pointless yes but i was bored. I don't hate new vegas I was just disapointed I didn't realize untill recently it was made by a different team, it shows.

One thing i hated in f3 was the story and choices. If you had the Supermutant who could withstand radiation with you were forced down two choices you die or the brotherhood chick which is retarded. Fallout new vegas is much more open and actually makes sense and lots of different out comes and less linear a true fallout game.

I agree with the facts that NV is more open with several different path makin it more close to original fallout games.

But excuse me, all path to follow doesn't make the game longer and each story-line (in my opinion ) are pretty weak and boring.

6 or 7 boring stories about uninteresting skirmish can absolutly not compares to an epic quest about saving the world.

and about fallout 3, those whoo say that it's just a story apart from the original saga seems not to have played this game because Fallout 3 has got some revelations about Fallout world.

You mean the "epic" quest to turn on a water treatment facility, and who gets credit for it? Yeah, that really got my blood pumping. Heck, I almost stopped snoring through the finale!

I loved F3's storyline better. I liked the people and enviorment. BUT I liked FNV's weapons and armor better. I liked how FNV had 'true' iron sights. It's very hard to choose which is better.

if there was ever a mix between the gameplay assets such as fnv's true iron sights, survival, weapons mods and fallout 3's devasteated landscape, storyline, both games dlcs and a mix nof all the characters and weapons and perks and meds, that would be the game i'd play over and over and over again.

I got Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition with all expansion packs as a gift for Christmas a while back. Heard about it. But didn't really get my attention. So it sat for almost a year with brand new plastic wrapping on my tv next to the XBOX 360. I had been playing Oblivion for years on the XBOX 360 and had just completed my billionth play through. LOL. And was broke and couldn't buy any new games. So there was Fallout 3. So I was like what the heck I'll try it. First thing I noticed is that Bethesda made it. Same people that made Oblivion, so it got my interest a little more. Needless to say, I started playing it, and stayed up until 3 AM that first night and had to work the next day at 6AM. Called in sick. Played all day. Didn't eat. Sat in my pajamas. Playing Fallout 3.

So then I hear there are things called "Mods" for the computer version...so yep....you guessed it went shopping and bought the GOTY edition for the PC. A Month later my laptop burned out from all the FO3 hours. I couldn't get enough of the post apocolyptic feel. I had just gone to D.C. a few months before and there before my eyes was the Washington monument.....with holes! and Capital hill filled with Super Mutants. Then I start watching all these videos on YouTube that people put together using FO3 characters and stuff from the game! And then I got to the Nexus and my jaw hit the floor....mod after mod......after mod. I printed the BOS logo from the net and put it on my cubicle wall at work. Everyone looks at it and asks what it is and I tell them it's a group I belong to. So now everybody thinks I'm some kind of Free Mason. LOL.

I keep playing Oblivion GOTY on my 3rd new computer. I keep playing Fallout 3. So when I heard Fallout New Vegas was comming out I got super excited! I reserved a copy. Pre-ordered. I kept hearing so much about Fallout 1 and 2 that I downloaded it from Direct 2 Drive and even though I dug the story.....the outdated graphics disappointed me. But I loved getting some history lessons and understood a little more about the Fallout Universe.

So I get FONV and install it on my PC. The opening scene had great graphics.......but I was disappointed with the story right off the bat....really? Revenge for getting shot? That happens a lot in the wasteland. So I played it through all the way. Have it installed with a few mods no DLC. But even though FONV is pretty big, the weapons are more varied, the old school factions are back and the locations too, I felt seriously let down. Big time let down. It felt like there really was no point to this. The ultimate bad guy is a man who thinks he's an old Roman? Really?

I know the rabid NV fans say this is more canon and that that is what the Fallout Universe is supposed to be like. I really loved the great graphics and variety in weapons and ammo and armors. But the storyline left me disappointed. After playing the old school Fallout games and FO3 the stories always involve the Vault. In NV only vault is a gift shop and a fiend hidout? All the other ones are empty or have lame fetch quests.

The Brotherhood of Steel is almost nonexistent. (my favorite faction) The enclave is dispersed and just leftovers. Fallout 3 had a deeper story line. Life in the Vault turned upside down. The brotherhood of Steel is everywhere and so is the Enclave. Settlements have a postapocolyptic feel instead of the Vegas crummy neighborhood feel. When I have played New Vegas it feels like I am going into one of the cheap casinos on the strip nobody has heard that smells like cigarettes and puke and the slot machines and decor is from the 1960's.

I was seriously let down. And I keep reading about all the trouble people have with modding for New Vegas because Black Isle studios has shaky game coding and it is totally unstable in the GECK.

One of the reasons FO3 was made even better and is so long lived is that Bethesda made it so Modder friendly. And Stable. I hope and pray that the next Fallout game is made by Bethesda. Maybe something in Los Angeles or Texas. And I hope if any other studio is making the next Fallout Game they read threads and forums like this and realize that mod friendly games are the way to go to make them long lifed and loved.

That's why I think FO3 is better. Better storyline. More stable. More modder friendly. Better apocolyptic feel.
