minngarm
While most of you know i love FO3 far more than FNV, I cant help but wonder if the release order had been reversed if FNV would not be acclaimed as a truly epic game compared to its good game status of the current timeline. There is a lot it needs improved on yes, but I think the fact that FO3 preceeded it has kinda over shadowed the overall work that makes up FNV. Either way both are games I would insist on everyone owning and playing, with a few select mods for each to add just enough extra to bring each one truly to life. Jeoshua
In terms of technical achievement and relevance to the original storylines of the first two games, New Vegas is far and away a better game. Their are features both new to the older games and familiar (Ironsights on the first part, Armor Piercing ammo on the second). The companions have stories of their own. The setting is close to the same kind as Fallouts 1 and 2. On the other hand, Fallout 3 is the more innovative, the better storyline, and the more expansive and populated universe. It broke a lot of ground bringing Fallout's world into the modern era of first person gaming and really made a lot of people fall in love with the whole Fallout experience. Bethesda knows the engine better than anyone (having cobbled it together themselves) and really knows how to push it to produce exactly what they wanted. So which is better? They're both good games in their own right, but I would have to say that really it's a personal choice. Do you care about the storyline more, or the world? The artistry or the mechanics? The breadth or the depth? Because really these two games cannot be weighted on the same scales.
