devinpatterson
Just would like to see either an adam jensen-esque race with sweet cyber-limbs,or that these limbs become visible on yer character as you install implants into yer arms and legsI haven't used PN so I think you'd have to fill me in on the implants you had in mind for visible changes. Changing races is problamatic in FO3/FONV, but once you did (to a new cyborg race) you could change the skin texture and allow you to have jensen-esque arms without changing all the outfit/armor models....pretty much the way it works for (civilized) ghouls. You won't be able to change the race meshes, but with new normal maps you can get a tiny bit of 3D effect.Going off of the google pics, I'd say you could get a decent result since Adam's arms aren't too far off in shape. So yeah I think it's do-able, if you can avoid some of the pitfalls with changing races and do it safely (I haven't checked in quite a while so it may be a non issue). Also the skin shader will probably discolor the arms to a greater or lesser degree as I'm not too sure where complexion is accessed. no.
madmongo
I know that if you change your race just by using the showracemenu command that it tends to disable your perks. They still show up in your perk list in your Pip-Boy but they don't function correctly unless you remove them and add them again. There's a safe showracemenu mod here that allows you to use mirrors placed throughout the wasteland to safely change your race. It has a few minor issues but mostly works. You can take a look at how they do the scripting to change your race if you want to integrate it into PN or some other cyborg mod.http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/45717/? I did a cyborg playthorugh once and just used that mod prior to going into the BigMT to change to a much more cyborg-ish appearance. I tried modifying the script tha truns when you first enter the BigMT but I never got that working correctly. The other issue you run into is what devinpatterson mentioned. If all you change is the skin texture, you can usually get away with that. If you actually modify the mesh though, you run into problems with different outfits. The reason for this is that the outfits include body parts. For example, if you have a T-shirt outfit, the T-shirt outfit actually contains the human arms that are visible that the T-shirt doesn't cover. It's not using the body mesh underneath. So if you create a fancy whiz-bang cyborg arm mesh, you'll find that mesh completely replaced by the standard human arm mesh whenever you put the T-shirt on (but you'll probably still have your cyborg hand, which will be weird). Most clothes are made this way. A T-shirt will include human arms and a small piece of the human chest (just what's visible above the collar), but won't include the rest of the chest. If the outfit has long pants, there won't be any human body mesh underneath. If it's a shorts outfit (or a dress outfit for a female) the outfit will likely include the visible parts of the legs, but won't include the pelvis or any other areas covered by clothing. They do this to avoid clipping issues. If you try to make outfits that go over the default body mesh instead of replacing it, you end up with a lot of clipping problems. If you only wear a few different outfits, you can make custom versions of those outfits for your character. The more outfits you wear, the more work you gotta do. And if you want to be able to wear any outfit in the game, you'd have a heck of a lot of work to do because you'd have to modify most of the outfits in the game. But you could get fancy with a script and automatically swap out the human version vs. the cyborg version of outfits depending on whether it's a cyborg player or a human npc wearing it. I played around quite a bit with cyborgs a while back, both as a player and as npcs. I even released a test companion when I was first playing around with them, but the response was so overwhelmingly negative that I never released anything else and have no desire to publicly release anything more along those lines. candedspam
Its a fun idea, but AFAIK the implants themselves are under the skin and not visible. I don't know of all the implants so I could be wrong, but all that I have seen describe what they are before you implement them--such as synthetic joints for your arms, or vibration controllers on your vocal cords. The only implant that I've come across that might have a visible impact is a stealth field, from what I read I imagine it like camouflaging sweat. The implant itself controls production of it and is not visible, as your body is what actually ends up producing and secreting this unnatural liquid. This could be implemented as a very slight % of transparency of the player character while in sneak mode, despite being a fun idea, having to get naked for this each time and redress after would be too tedious and it would be best to effect clothing etc., similar to the function of a Stealth Boy. I might not know of implants that SHOULD be visible, but the cybernetic race, whatever its called, could be made compatible with PN, where you could start with a part, such as a hand, followed by arm.. or whatever.. I don't see that happening, but something like Wolverine inspired retracting blades would be badass C:

As per the OP's request; Just would like to see either an adam jensen-esque race with sweet cyber-limbs http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2GkhewX4WJ0/TlrFtnfetnI/AAAAAAAAGfo/72VBPVj89IA/s1600/Adam+Jensen.jpg Adam's cyber limbs are pretty hard to miss, this is what I and Madmongo are referring to. In addition such a modification could be useful/fuctional within fallout's perk framework (ie arms can't be crippled, increased strength etc).
