[Tabaxi 2.0/Vampire Race Disabler] Correcting the derpy eyes

Greetings. I'm new to modding Oblivion, and started only yesterday. However, I ran into a graphical error.

 

I'm attempting to start the game as a vampire Tabaxi via the Alternative Start by Ship mod, just for fun. I disabled aging via the Vampire Race Disabler mod, and... I've run into a hilarious glitch.

As you might imagine, this is not what I want. I'm trying everything, including applying the bashed file tweak instead of the OBSE mod, to fix it, but can't seem to find out what might be causing it. Worthy of note: This was a face imported from an older file via Wrye Bash.

I also have several manual installs done at the instructions of my boyfriend who introduced me to modding the game. But neither he nor I can figure out why my Tabaxi looks derpy. Could any of you help?

Have you disabled vampire eye as well? Tabaxi may use custom eye mesh, while default vampire eyes will use stock eye meshes unless some mod changes them(So you can see googly eyes when your custom race character becomes vampire). Edited by LFact

I disabled the eye change so that my character retains the eye color, and this fixes it. But I want to play with the changed eye color, which is why I'm turning to this forum in hopes of a method for it. (And maybe a new texture for her body to match the high-res face, but I'll save that for the discussion forum...)

Your choice on this from what I understand about the vampire change is that you will either have custom races with crazy eyes, or vanilla races with crazy eyes. You can't fix both. If you patch to allow the Tabaxi to have proper eyes, then vampires you meet in the wild will all have crazy eyes unless you somehow change all vampires in game to a different custom race that doesn't use the vanilla eyes.

No mod exists to fix the eye mesh? This is highly disappointing, but thank you for your time. (If you know a fix, though, that'd be great!)

 

I would develop that myself, but using the construction set itself is daunting, and I did not code my way out of a Hello World! print. Alas.

Console command: 'showracemenu'.

Or you have to edit all vanilla races to use same custom eye meshes and textures with Construction Set, just like what Elaborate Eyes(and Beautiful People) did. Of course, it can lead you to other incompatibility issues.

Unfortunately, many mods change the eyes, and it can depend on several things which eyes are used in the game. Conflicts between the different methods of modding eyes can lead to strange eye problems. (you already found that out :tongue:)

 

Many, but not all custom races change eyes, as do many cosmetic mods. If the conflict is between eyes that use the same mod method, you can sometimes fix it by changing the load order of the conflicting mods.

 

One of the most common is Beautiful People which was an early cosmetic mod. Most (but not all) later mods use a different method that causes problems if you have Beautiful People - or one of it's derivatives installed also.

 

Try disabling all mods that change the eyes to get back to the vanilla eyes. Then enable/disable the mods one at a time to get the eyes you want. You may end up having to remove some mods altogether though.

After playing around a bit, I came to the conclusion that the Tabaxi race itself is incompatible with vampirism. I'm wondering if a patch exists to change the eyes for that race; the Vampire Fix for Cute Elves seemed promising, as it did not alter any files. However, it turned out to be incompatible for the Tabaxi too.

 

All custom race with custom eye meshes will have 'same' problem. You can't please everyone. You'll either have googly eyes for custom race vampires or googly eyes for vanilla vampires.

 

**Vanilla eye meshes, Elaborate Eye meshes, Ren's eye meshes, and idkrrr's eye meshes have different texture mapping each other. There's no global texture fix of vampire eye issue, unless it is a solid color texture.
