I bought Morrowind thru Steam, so it's downloaded and in that file.

I downloaded Morrowind Code Patch from here.

The patch is in my downloads file with other files like read me that came with it.

I opened the patch and attempted to attach it, but the reply is it cant find my game.

How do I attach this patch to Morrowind please ?

I use Windows 7.

It's no good in your downloads folder, from the readme......

Installation

------------

Extract the zip to your Morrowind directory, the one with the Morrowind program in it (not Data Files).

Run the Morrowind Code Patch program. If it's installed in Program Files, you may need to run as administrator.

Discussing this with a friend, was advised NOT to extract it into my Morrowind directory.

As it's Steam, I was warned I could ruin the game, & Steam updates game automatically.

After I extracted the patch in my downloads file, and then used the attach button, I got this message:

"Could not find Morrowind.exe. Make sure Morrowind Code Patch is installed in the same directory as Morrowind.

Patch failed to apply."

So, is there a danger using this patch on a Steam downloaded Morrowind?

If not, how do I move this patch into:

C: > program files (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > morrowind

The MCP readme says:

"Morrowind Code Patch will patch your Morrowind.exe file to fix things, and redate your BSAs so that mods override vanilla files properly for Steam users."

Whatever that means, it appears the patch creator intends it for Steam use.

I'm a computer niave, so appreciate any help on this problem, thx.

It does work on Steam. Unzip the file and drop the contents into your Morrowind folder, if you've done it right it will ask if you want to overwrite/merge the data folder, agree to that. As it's in your program files you should right click on the Morrowind Code Patch.exe and select "Run as Administrator". If you're worried about Steam updating it (very unlikely with a game this old) right click on Morrowind in your Steam library and select properties, click the update tab and select do not automatically update this game.
