nenekitty
This is my first time posting so forgive me if I screw up... Okay, so I got a new computer. I installed Oblivion GOTY (same that was on my laptop), and then I copied my saves over into their appropriate folder (My Documents, My Games, Oblivion, Saves). Game runs beautifully. When I go to load my save files... game freezes up at the loading screen (the little red bar at the bottom doesn't move). I tried loading an older save of mine to see if maybe my newest save was corrupt... same problem. Then I got on my laptop and loaded the original saves. They still work. I'd really like to be able to play my saved games on my new computer because it is much better than my laptop... that, and I never use the laptop anymore. I've tried re-installing the game on the new computer and I still have the same problem. My only possible solutions...1. My laptop has Windows 7 and the new computer has Windows Vista2. I had custom content and the "Unofficial Oblivion Patch" on my laptop that I did not transfer to my new computer (yet)3. When I installed the game on my new computer, I installed it into a different directory than the default (C:, Program Files, Bethesda Softworks, Oblivion)(None of these have been proven to be true, but if they are true, I'm going to be very upset.) Any help is greatly appreciated. I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure all of this out... Thanks :)
Iv000
It crashes because the save uses data from the mods, because these mods aren't installed it cannot find them and it crashes.Reinstall the mods you had on your previous PC and it should work. nenekitty
Yay thank you so much! I re-installed the unofficial patch and threw my custom content onto the new computer and it worked :) A much easier solution than starting over.
