Maigrets
F.F.S, not another BS topic like this. I thought there was a thread on non-revealing armor already? Why the hell are you on nexus then? Vanilla oblivion has tons of thick-coated armor that makes females look like muscle-machos, go munch on those. Too bad for you if you're insecure enough to stare at half-naked cartoons. You know Heartcloud, the OP has a right to an opinion just as you have as I said in the last one, but he or she put it in a much nicer tone. Are you saying the Nexus is only here to cater to the sexy and skimpy mods and nothing else? Because that's what it sounds like. Yes, as another person said, sex sells, but it's not the be all and end all of modding or gaming. Put a label on a mod and call it "Sexy" something or other and you guarantee views and downloads and I think some of the time it's for attention and kudos deserved or not. People who make the best mods, skimpy or otherwise don't need feel the need to go to that extreme. Do we see people rolling their eyes at all the "help me with OBMM or FCOM etc, etc" posts? No we don't. It seems to me the people who jump on these threads with indignation are the insecure ones when they have to defend their choices particularly related to sexy, skimpy or nude mods. Not everyone has the same taste and there are 1000's of mods to cater to all of them if one searches through the categories. Your post and others like it, is rude and not at all welcoming of new members or ones who rarely post, nor is it encouraging them to be part of the community. Somewhere under his point is a pile of golden nuggets. I've been slaving away at a really ambitious mod for years, with a team. We've been posting and trying to raise some awareness about this project for quite some time, a project with immensely high production values and actual game content - but it takes less than 1 hour for said post to be buried pages beneath the most recent "why are my high heels not working" threads. It's a bit frustrating. It feels like a very shallow and insular community, who only still have Oblivion installed for their manga fantasies. Of course, not everyone is like this, hardly. But this kind of thing steals 99.5% of the attention, and real mods get buried all the time over it. If we didn't have a rock solid discipline we'd have given up - this "community" seems all but impenetrable. EDIT: And that goes for ALL Oblivion communities, not just the Nexus, by the way. You're quite correct on all points. It is an insular community, particular of late, which is why I often find myself distancing myself from it, coming back and going away again in disgust at the attitude of many people. And yes that means not just the Nexus. If you're not talking about the latest new body mod, sexy armour or manga you may as well just give up. Please don't give up on your mod though. There are people who will choose your mod because it suits their style of play and there are other people still making non sexy mods, some in production for a very long time, who are still going strong. After all's said and done, and as is often said it is a single player game and people can choose what they like in their game. We don't necessarily have to like it, but most of us don't ridicule others for that choice either as some are doing. @Darigaz17 This kind of topic again!?...really? Posted Image If you want something done to your tastes, then move your lazy a** and do it (or learn how to do it)... Please lock this thread, it's an over debated never ending vicious circle... nothing good will come from here. How unoriginal. This gets really old as well. Asking for a thread to be locked because you don't like it is not up to you, especially when no-one has caused a problem. Why did you look here anyway except to flame. Can you not be more constructive instead of posting that useless image.
Flintlockecole
Creativity is Creativity no matter which way it's shown. If it's not your taste at least have the respect for the work done, one way another none of that "Durr I don't like that etc etc", keep calm and carry on, I myself is not too into the stuff that shows a bit of skin here or there but I respect the guy/gal whose gone off and done what they like to do/see/whatever. And that poorly done guy beating on that horse again, I don't think I have the words for how much I despise that picture.
fore
You know Heartcloud, the OP has a right to an opinion just as you have as I said in the last one, but he or she put it in a much nicer tone. Are you saying the Nexus is only here to cater to the sexy and skimpy mods and nothing else? Because that's what it sounds like.Really? This thread was started in a much nicer tone? I read words like "worst", "so called", "unrealistic", "disappointed". This is not a nice way to START a thread either. And you cannot expect all people responding to this will react in a humble manner. And it's not like the OP is a newcomer. S/he has hundreds of posts already. So s/he has seen at least a handful of these discussions. So why another one? To become known in this forum? Become known by making a "better built mod", sworddragon. Not by starting an aggressive thread, which repeats a beaten-up subject.
sworddragon
I have never seen any of those discussion, maybe i dont have the spare time to look around and find a topic to flame, and they aren't armor mods because armor usually defends you, while those outfits dont over any protection at all except for maybe 2 square cm....You really think i want to get known or something by posting this thread? I am not an attention freak who would do something like that i just found it strange that in my opinion, better built mods gets often dont get the attention they deserve because all attention goes to the mods with the naked females in it..... Not by starting an aggressive thread, which repeats a beaten-up subject. Surely you're not serious. There's nothing aggressive about the words you highlighted, but the truth as seen by the OP and I might add, many others who don't bother to express it because of the reaction they get even if they do it in a polite way. Everyone has a different view of their game and realism is the one word of all of them that gets people worked up. Realism to me as far as this game goes is how Bethesda presented it, without the skimpy, sexy stuff, some of which I use myself. They gave us an editor so people can do whatever they like and thankfully, there are a lot of choices to suit varied tastes. Bypassing the swear filter as Heartcloud did is more aggressive because if (s)he could have said exactly as the acronyms used it would have been even more downright rude. I was talking about newcomers to the site being put off, (as well as old ones) not specifically the OP. Show me where it states someone can't discuss any topic they wish in a reasonable manner, which compared to some posts and threads on this forum, this one is. At least "sworddragon" didn't trash specific mods (or belittle people directly) as I've seen done on this forum by others. No don't bother, I have other avenues to express my views so I'm the one beating a dead horse here as much as I hate the expression. It's so unoriginal and of no constructive use. I do believe everyone has the right to their opinion without outright flaming, even if others don't. Edited September 3, 2011 by Maigrets
Naktis
I usually stay away from these topics because I don't mind skimpy outfits also used a few in the past. No one is forcing me to look at them or to download. I simply appreciate the effort that the modder put into his/her mod. Also take a look at this picture and more importantly what the female is wearing. Revealing armors were always well maybe not always in fantasy related things like games, books and comics. And it's not going to disappear just because someone doesn't like it. sworddragon
Im not saying the mods are bad, I wondered why everyone prefers them above everything else.instead of answering a simple question people resolve to complaining about me posting it and saying i should make mods myself before saying anything about other mods.Maybe not everyone is a good modder or has the spare time for it and i certainly dont, you see i have a life. kirinann
I like skimpy armor on some of my female characters because they like using their sexuality for manipulation... and some people probably like it because they appreciate the female or male body. it's a fantasy game 'realism' should not apply, my characters have been stabbed whit a giant sword while nude and are still walking...limbs intact. I am a full time college student, and I work full time and I have time to make mash-ups of armor I like to see... and it only takes seconds to add chain-mail texture in place of skin ;)... instant non-skimpy armor. You can have a life and still mod.
buddah
Well before someone crosses the line, time to lock this down. Been hashed to death over and over and over and over. Don 't need to rehash it again. It ends now. Buddah
