metricjester
This is my very first mod for any game ever, so it's going to be rough. Normally I can pick this sort of thing up really quickly, in fact I launched my graphic design career off of a free class at the local adult high school. This made me learn Photoshop, The GIMP, Adobe Illustrator, InkScape (recently), and even CorelDraw (actually corel draw was first). I'd spent hours coding my own websites and I have experience with batch files, BASIC, C, C++, bash scripting, JavaScript, and even the dreaded VisualBASIC. I've even played with 3D in Google SketchUp to model my ideal homemade arcade machine. So I've got a foundation for modding, but for some reason it's not coming along as easily as I thought it would. So I have modelled the Marotte in Blender. It's a wooden ball on a stick, but the textures are not working. Thing looks ugly, and using NifSkope is kind of like cutting yourself to see if you still bleed. It hurt the first time, don't do it anymore. I borrowed the hat .nif from http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=264 Which to be honest is a perfect model compared to my ungainly attempts. I have a few issues with this, for instance it's not mine, nor was it the original modder's model, clearly an implicit copyright violation if I use it. Also the textures bug me, they are far too ugly to go on a jester's hat! Jester's are all about style and this hat has all the colours of a port-a-potty. I have also uploaded my working files to https://sites.google.com/site/chrispeacockcloud/downloads If you want to keep track of my progress, or help me out that's where you'll find it right now. If you want to help make this sorely needed mod I'd like to coordinate from this forum. Also get a hold of me if you have a model or texture to add. The shirt, and pants, are still to be designed, but the whole thing is showing promise, because I'm thinking of just re-texturing some vanilla clothes instead of modelling that kermit collar. I will have something more concrete later in the week, and I will be sure to upload replacement blender files every night just to keep the work files up to date. Oh and eventually I want this to have multiple colours, multiple weapons, and possibly set perks (like if you only have one piece on you get one perk, but if you have two pieces on you get 3 perks, and if all the pieces are on you get twice as many perks as pieces.) I have released the mod at http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40678 Edited October 17, 2011 by metricjester
metricjester
Ok, so I smacked red and black together in GIMP to see if I could wrap a Harley Quinn type texture onto a shirt (in this case a Dark Shirt), and it worked ok so far. Some tweaking still to be done, but if you want to see the texture check out my google site: http://sites.google.com/site/chrispeacockcloud/downloads
metricjester
After almost a month I have nearly completed my first draft of the mod. It is unfortunately hatless, which makes me sad, but there is an upside, the weapon is big blunt and heavy. I just need to learn how to place a container with my stuff in it. metricjester
Ok, so I've got an actual release here, but it's absolutely not done. In fact there's some really serious clipping issues with my preferred mods installed. screen shot link: https://picasaweb.google.com/105733910789580034060/October42011?authuser=0&feat=directlink download link:https://sites.google.com/site/chrispeacockcloud/downloads
jamochawoke
Your screenshots show invisible textures on your outfit. Try checking NifSkope to make sure you got the correct paths in the .nif files for the texturing property.
metricjester
Thanks for the input, but i can't make them work in game. I had made sure that all the textures were in the right folder, and named what they should be. Sorted the folders I'm storing the nifs in, fixed the esp and still nothing. Works fine in nifskope though. Maybe I need to do something with nifskope.... copy and paste to make a new nif since all these nifs are blender exports
jamochawoke
Did you make normal textures for them?
metricjester
All the tutorials I could find about textures never mentioned normals textures or how to use them.
Squizzo
This tutorial is for Fallout, but the principle is the same >>> http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Fallout._Part_1#Create_the_textures_and_the_normal_maps_in_GIMP
