Codrak
Hello, I've just purchased Oblivion, and am very excited to give it a go in a couple days. I've been surfing these forums for a while to find some mods that will enhance my first run through the game, and I'm a bit overwhelmed. I've seen screenshots of the nice work that some modders have done to beautify the environment and character textures, and would like very much to enjoy this game using a couple of these mods. Yes, I'm aware there's a bunch of "essential" mod lists, but I am intimidated considering many of them contain 10+ mods (when I have yet to experiment with installing even 1). Also, I'm not too interested in changing the rules of the game just yet considering I've never played it through. So...I was wondering if anyone can suggest 4-7 mods for the first time player? As I stated before, I'd like a couple to pretty up the characters and landscape, and maybe a couple that fix aspects of the game that you all found boring/clumsy without ruining the first time experience of Oblivion. As a side question. Would you reccomend I use the obmm? Thanks for any Help.

Crisb92
G'day, welcome to the forums. To spruce up the general environment I would suggest a glance over various pages such as the gamespot Oblivion: Make it pretty page. Mods for the general viewing experience:- Natural Environments- LOD replacers Then if you have a high end machine there are mods such as Qarl's texture pack 3, which upgrades almost all the textures in the game. If you want links to these, or simply want some more help/ advice, feel free to ask, I'll check back. Have fun! Cris
Suzarn
If you look at the top 100 files, there is a good amount of popular Oblivion mods in that list. Not all of them are related to Oblivion, so pay attention before downloading. OOO, MMM and Frans are 3 of the biggest mods and add a lot of content to the stock game and they change the gameplay to be a little more realistic. There is a project called FranOOOMMM to merge all these mods but it takes a bit of patience to get it working correctly. If anything at all, get exnems body replacer. The stock bodies in oblivion aren't very appealing. Exnems is very detailed and high quality. There are also a number of mods made specifically for exnems body. Another thing to check out is rens beauty pack, which adds different eyes and hairstyles and also a custom "Mystic elf" race.

Povuholo
I don't recommend getting OOO, MMM or Frans on your first time through, because they drastically change the way the game plays. I think it's better to play the game without any mods that completely change the way the game works the first time you play. But it's all up to you. :P
Guest
If you're the type to get side tracked with side quests during your main quest line, I'd get OOO,MMM, and Frans. If you want to do the main quest line though, I'd say stick with the original. Also, OOO, and MMM can only truly be appreciated by knowing how vanila Oblivion is. OOO and MMM add sutble but very big game play changes. Starting or continuing, STREAMLINE is a must have mod for better PC performance. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View...ail&id=2684 there's a link enjoy! Jumonji
If you have less than a maxed-out pc, I highly recommend Combat FPS Optimizer, which decreases graphic settings during combat and then sets them back afterwards. If you do have a better than average pc, I would get the Alive Waters set, and the Get Wet mod. DEJ Harvest is great for alchemists - it removes the foliage imagry after you harvest it, and returns it when you can harvest again. If you're an archer, one of the most valuable and undersung mods is Denock Arrows which lets you unload an arrow without firing it. Everyone is raving about Exnem's bodies.. but I still like Growlfs Hot Clothes 4.1 myself. The body is slightly more voluptuous and less athletic, but I think the arms and butt are much more realistic. Plus the lngerie is amazing. :) And, of course, if you want a pretty helpmate as you travel Tamerial, you can't go wrong with Rhianna or Red Sonia. -Jumonji
