Drowster
Have you ever cleaned out a cave or ruin only to screw up a potential quest line? Ideas for identifying quest/explore places ingame:-A book/scroll that contains info about the place you just found.-Scroll Map with all locations identified with just the words 'Explore' or Quest related'.-Unique colored flowers identifying the above.-Celtic-looking clickable stone marker providing game-info.Thank You
David Brasher
People keep making requests sort of like this. Usually they ask for markings on the door of quest-related dungeons. I believe several mods have been made in response to these requests. I recommend that you search to find those mods and see if they would be of interest to you. Drowster
Any recommendations? I already have Map Marker Overhaul. It is useful to close out places explored but, when I find something new I have to close the game, go to Wiki page to identify it as quest/explore, then restart the game. Even if it's just a patch of flowers or a bush with a specific color and nothing else said that would solve this dilemma.
David Brasher
One of the mods they were building would place a decal on the door of a quest-related dungeon so that you would know not to go into it unless you were doing the quest. The decal was a thin object like the blood splatter decal that could be placed on any surface and would work on any dungeon door. Another one of the mods they were building retextured all the different styles of dungeon doors so that the quest-related dungeon doors would look different than the ordinary ones. You could take this information and try asking on the Oblivion mod detectives thread if your personal search turns up nothing. Drowster
Map Marker Overhaul allows you to mark quest related locations, amongst other features.MMO does many useful things but, like all map marker mods, it is up to the player to set them. However, this is not about map markers. i just want to know if there is a mod that pre-identifies a location as a quest related place so that the player does not negates a potential questline before it's started like a colored plant, blood/decal on the enterance or even a locked door that only opens when the appropriate quest is activated. David Brasher
That is an awful lot of tedious research. Someone would have to look up every single dungeon in the whole game on the wiki. That part of the work would take a lot longer than placing the in-game viewable markers to distinguish the quest-related dungeons from the others. What is it that the Map Marker Mod does? It would only be useful for this purpose if it has a setting where you make the map markers automatically indicate if the dungeon is quest-related. It would not be useful if the gamer has to manually mark the dungeons him or herself as quest dungeons. I wonder if someone has already researched a list of which dungeons are quest dungeons? If they had, a modder could just grab the list and mark all the dungeons that needed to be marked in a day or two of work. One possible option would be to study whether there are more quest-related dungeons or non-quest related dungeons. Then the category with the lowest number could be the one that got marked. Keirgarth
Some locations are used for quests, but you can't access specific areas in the dungeons until you have the quest. Those shouldn't be too much of an issue really. The problem I see is that mods might mark dungeons as quest dungeons, and checking everyone's mods would be more than tedious. As far as finding out what dungeons are quest related, why not read the official game guide? This guide lists most of the quests in vanilla game as well as talks about each dungeon and what can be expected to be found in it.
David Brasher
I found where someone had done the research on which dungeons are quest-related. I spot-checked it and what I saw was good, so I took his word for it on the rest of the data. I retextured a flower and placed it near the door of the quest-related dungeons. There were not quite as many quest-related dungeons as I expected there would be, so it went fairly quick. So the mod Quest-Related Dungeons Marked is now available for download. Some quest dungeons are perfectly safe to explore before doing the quest, but some are not. This will help people who wish to use the mod make an informed decision before entering a new dungeon.
