Torchlight Nexus

thee have been a few (insert game here) Nexus requests, so i didnt want to be left out

ive had Torchlight for a while now, and with Resistance 3's online being bogged down by low frame rates whenever 3+ ppl join the screen, ive since given up until they fix it, and for some reason i went back to Torchlight and am loving it once again. i also found that they do have a Toolkit for it, and with Torchlight 2 around the corner ("sometime in 2011") i wouldnt be surprised if that came with a tool kit as well.

now the probability of creating a new attachment to the Nexus just because one person asked is slim i know, so half of the reason i posted this was also to find out how many ppl out there have played or are playing Torchlight. any of you looking forward to Torchlight 2? what kind of fan base is here on the Nexus?

:)

Played it, and was impressed with who the authors were, but game play isn't like I had hoped as far as repeatability. Unlike Diablo or Diablo II, Torchlight doesn't give the player an easy way to hit specific areas of the game to try and gather rares/set pieces. I am talking about what Diablo players would know as Laz runs, Diablo runs, just running hell/hell. So basically I won't be playing it anymore unless something really takes off in the modding community for it. I am waiting on Diablo III. :)

im honestly more excited for Torchlight 2, even though ill be getting D3 as well. ive only beaten D2 once. i never went online. was never interested in going online. ive had friends who went online and they didnt care for it, so i nvr cared. i loved Diablos artistic feel and just down right grittyness, but overall i thought the game was jus meh.

as for D2s replayability, its all forced, its not like it was "built" for it, thought its all argument. players created the replayability. doing runs to get the same armor over and over. playing the same character 3-4 times through the same game on a different difficulty. i visited a D2 forum once and every topic was about doing a run for the same exact armor every time, or building one of maybe 5 character for PvP. that and the Diablo maps were horrible compared to Torchlights. Torchlights all flow in one direction whereas D2s are just random and you have to go random ways to hopefully find the next lvl. and thats just it, Torchlight wasnt designed to be grinded to death looking for armor. when you beat the game your supposed to try it with a different character, not the same one over and over.

but this isnt a D2 vs Torchlight despute (though im sure it will turn into one) ill be getting D3 ill be getting Torchlight. the one class i would have loved to see in D3 though was a Knight type character which would in essence be similar to a barbarian i guess, but i always wanted a cross between it and a paladin. going through with a sword and shield and stuff with knight armor. i suppose i could still do that with the barbarian but i doubt id find knight/templar armor, though maybe.....ill be playing as a monk anyways :D

I agree, this shouldn't turn into a Diablo vs Torchlight thread and I am sorry if I started that hehe. I was just pointing out that Torchlight was nice, but it is going to take a bit of modding for me to want to run it again. As for the gameplay for Diablo, I found it to be more enjoyable online as gaming with friends is always better for me than playing the game alone. :)

lol its no biggie. its almost impossible not to bring up Diablo when talking about Torchlight, made by many of the same ppl, very similar game.

but i never wanted to get into the D2 online, i played many many times but always only got to world 2 or 3. only time i actually beat world 3 was the time i beat the game. idk i always wanted to play but lost interest half way through, then would just start over lol. plus it sucks you can only really get to lvl 30-35 in single player. really leaves too much of the character unexplored.....my friend however beat the game like 8 times he says. mostly with barbarian but once with most of the other classes cept like paladin and sorcerer i think....he also nvr went online.

but ya im restarting my alchemist cause its points are everywhere and i wanna refine it, and i got a barbarian going as well (talking about Torchlight)

As far as Diablo II, I have gone through it several times with several types of characters. The most difficult was the Mage as on hell difficulty the mobs have a lot of immunities and it takes timing and luck to beat some of them. I currently have I think 12 level 99 toons, 8 are hardcore ones that are gone if they die. All are offline characters btw :)

As for Torchlight, well I haven't really gotten past a couple of dungeons after you beat the main game, just didn't thrill me at the time. I might dust it off and have another go at it though.

your achievments remind me of those who have 4839543 lvl 85 toons in WoW. how did u do it? regarding WoW, i got 1 toon to lvl 46 then stopped. i cant imagine getting even one toon in D2 to lvl 99. the trip to lvl 33 was long and tedious as i said ive only gotten there once. most other toons i make get to lvl 15 or so then i quit from lack of interest in moving forward.

yea i just restarted my main toon in Torchlight (alchemist) it was lvl 37 (which reminds me, i have yet to beat Torchlight). also was messing the the Barbarian, hes at lvl 26 now i think.

I would love to say that getting to 99 takes a lot of time and dedication, .......

But I can't hehehe. It is mind numbingly boring at times, but you have to push through to achieve your goals. After the first one, you just boot up with a second install of the game and power level yourself :)
