reddead465
Hi, I was modding Oblivion for the first time, and I put some bad mods and it and messed up my game. So I uninstalled the game, then deleted the left over Oblivion files. I re installed the game, and it would close into the first 5 seconds of starting up the game. Then I uninstalled it again, deleting the left over files, and re installed it. Now when the Oblivion launcher starts up , everything is faded out and the only things I can click are the Elder Scrolls Website and the Exit button. I don't know what to do now , I just want to play Oblivion. Extra info: I downloaded the game off of steam, and it is the GOTY edition, also have windows 7 64bit Edited September 18, 2011 by reddead465
Hickory
Try deleting your \Documents\My Games\Oblivion\oblivion.ini file then restart the game from the launcher to have the game settings and hardware re-initialised.

Where is this ini file? I when to Documents/My games/. There is an Oblivion folder with 4 files in it which are a Saves Folder , Blend Settings(config settings), Oblivion (config settings), RendererInfo ( text document)

Go to View \ Folder Options \ View (in Windows Explorer) and uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types'. I think you will find the Oblivion (config settings) is the one. Keirgarth
There is also a program you can find by searching the web called ccleaner that will help clean our your registry once you have done a complete uninstall. If you don't clean the registry there is a possibility that things are left over and causing issues. But delete the oblivion.ini first and try, that might be what needs to be done. :)
