Crash to desktop (CTD) during combat.

I am having what seems like random crash to desktop during combat. The combat doesn't have to be all that "heavy" or "complicated" even, and it seems to happen at random. I'm doing my best to try and refrain from autosave. I've checked some of my mods for the latest versions. I've ran BOSS. Anybody have any ideas? Mods or conflict areas I could look into? I am running latest drivers. Any suggestions at all I could give a shot. Memory usage doesn't seem to be coming anywhere close to 2gB.

For a period I was plagued with CTD's that happened in combat and always happened when a new combat sound would play. An example is I'd be attacked by mutants and start fighting then I'd hear a new sound join the mix and CTD.

Here is my July 10th post on it (via google)

What solved my freezes was someone's suggested fix to install the latest 64-bit and 32-bit klite codec packs (Win7 x64 pro). I had previously played the game for 70 hours without freezes and then upgraded my sound/video (Xonar D2X and Radeon 5970). The game started freezing after 10-30 minutes play. I tried other fixes/solutions like the fallout.ini iNumHWThreads=2 and = 1, disabling all codecs with a 3rd part app and disabling the audio cache in the .ini. When it froze, It seemed to freeze shortly after new sounds such as crickets chirping or other ambient sounds started to play. Another solution I saw online was to add fallout to the ffdshow exclusion list if you have ffdshow installed.

Thanks! I really *really* appreciate the help guys/gals. I'll also grab the EVE FNV.esp compat patch. I noticed that while checking for an update! Just some general guidelines like given are of great help rather than disabling mods at random.

As for the Klite, I'll give that a shot after some time with the previous fixes. How do NV and KLite inter relate?

Oh. Yeah. Seems IWS is CTD prone. I'm gonna change it for CFB, see if that helps. Thanks for the heads up there.

NV uses some codecs which are installed in Windows and KLite installs codecs in Windows so NV ends up using some codecs KLite updated/installed. Adding a codec pack, removing a codec pack or customizing your codecs manually (for more advanced users) may solve your prob if it's stemming from this.

Don't forget to also search the FO3 forums for answers because many probs in NV also occur in FO3.
