darthbdaman
Post what you like about each series and what you hope they add in to Skyrim from Fallout or vice-versa: Things I like about both------------------------------Exploration: They all do a great job of having large environments to explore.Mods: Greatest modding potential in almost ay games. Things I dislike about both------------------------------The Engine: It stuttered a lot and produced lots of bugs. And while it looks good, it was definitely not worth the crashing and the bugs.Tutorials: This does not really apply to New Vegas, but the other two have really long forced tutorials. Short, and sweet.Difficulty: New Vegas adds hardcore mode which really spices things up, but they really should have and easy mode, a normal mode, a hard mode, and a holy &^$# mode.Controls: They don't have a universal control scheme so switching from Fallout to Oblivion is annoying unless you change it. The games could use almost exactly the same control scheme, especially on PC. Things I like about Fallout------------------------------SPECIAL: It is very distinctive and works very well with Fallout. Oblivion really does not have a very recognizable stats system and just feels like another fantasy system.Dark Humor: Fallout is very depressing at times.Reputation: Just New Vegas, I love the system with multiple faction reputations with karma as a thing purely for your reference. Things I like about Oblivion------------------------------Landscape: You can only walk through so much rubble before you want to see a green tree.Races: Having multiple races to choose from is great.Pointless Dungeons: FTW! Things which serve no purpose and are just randomly in the middle of nowhere win. Things I dislike about Fallout------------------------------Variation: Eventually walking through deserts and wastelands gets old. We need more Point Lookout. Things I dislike about Oblivion------------------------------Interface: The Fallout interface is terrible, but the Oblivion one is even worse. I could not play without Darn's UI it was so bad.Combat: It looks really weird when you cut a guy in cloth armor through the chest and he barely takes any damage.Conversation System: I really hate the whole wheel thing. I much prefer Fallout system which is based on reputation. And I hate every single NPC having the same DIALOGUE! %@$^ rumors.LEVEL SCALING!!!!!: I like the system in New Vegas where the level scales a bit, but is locked once you enter a area Required Mods ------------------------------Darn's UI: Must be integrated into the game. I don't want the interface to take up 25% of the screen.iHud: I also don't want to look at the interface all the time. I don't care how much health I have while eating dinner. * * Script Extender: More for convenience really.Nevada Skies: Where's my weather. Does it no longer rain. Delikatessen
To be honest, I only played Oblivion for 4 years for the mods. It's overly repetitive and I haven't even given that dude the Emperor's amulet yet. So: New Vegas was (in my opinion) a little better than Fallout 3 but Fallout 3 had more to explore with the DLC. Like killing that alien captain and having a huge 1 on 1 mothership battle, then getting that Samurai's armor. Fallout 3 had a LOT more bugs than New Vegas, but those were fixed over time. Oblivion has a massive world and lots of mods, which is what makes it fun (flying, anyone?). All three of them had their huge share of bugs, which were fixed by their developers (Bethesda, Obsidian) and the community. So I guess all three are a tie here, because of: - Massive open worlds - Huge selection of mods - So much to do Fallout 3 is a little higher up on the list because I got tired of the west coast after Fallout 1 and 2, and wanted something new. I didn't expect a new gameplay style, but it's still awesome.
modder3434
i like all three games equally. positives-mods-exploration-"live another life in another world" negatives-bugs- repetitive rumor dialogue in all three games, " did you hear about.." "YES I HAVE, TELL ME SOMETHING NEW DAMMIT!!"
