Sulo
Some 5 days ago an issue occured to me, that I have thought to be resolved a few weeks ago. If it is because the Nexus updated its software - or Firefox - I don't know. A week ago everything was alright. But then I started to get an error message which read "File does not exist" in the pop-up window which appears when you have to choose your download server. I tried around with different servers, no chance. I tried swiching off numerous Ad-Blockers, even my Antivirus and Firewall - same result. Then I tried playing around with cookies and found out that the whole problem resolves when I allow 3rd party cookies in firefox. Everything works as usual. My question is: Why do you need 3rd party cookies (quantserv for example)? Why did that start a few days ago? I know you have to earn money with cookies, linking, ads and other things but I thought that would be gone with buying a membership. I don't like collecting cookies, and switching around in firefox just for a quick look around on the Nexus is a bit annoying . And I don't trust the Internet Explorer enough to use it with passwords and stuff. Maybe someone could have a look at this? Thanks and cheers
Hickory
You do not need to accept 3rd party cookies. I use Firefox (6.0.2) and have my settings to accept cookies (until they expire), and third party cookies disabled. I also run NoScript and AdBlock Plus. I use exceptions (block, allow for session etc.) for sites I want cookie control on. When I feel it's time to clean out any cookies that slip through, I run CCleaner, which has a 'keep cookie' function and clears the rest. I have no such issues. The only thing that differs from my settings is the "accept cookies" function. I have turned this off, only allowing trusted sites to place them via the exceptions settings. Besides that I also use the mentioned blockers as well as CCleaner, Sweepi and others. So it's not the "3rd party cookies" function but the "reject them all except..." function. Looks like I have to keep it that way - because the Nexus wants to place other cookies (which I always blocked with the "allow no cookies" setting with exceptions). These are:jid0-gxjllfbcoax0lcltedfrekqdqpi-at-jetpack-as-ff-data and the abovementioned quantserve.com cookie and Firefox does of course not recognise them as Nexus cookies. But I still do not understand why this is so. I liked the "no cookies" function because I often used to forget to turn on the "private mode browsing". Well... Hickory, thanks & kudos for answering and clearing that a bit up

buddah
jid0-gxjllfbcoax0lcltedfrekqdqpi-at-jetpack-as-ff-data is part of firefox part of the developers kit. While quantserve.com is a cookie set by the site.
