Lanceor
Hello Martin, welcome to Nexus! Everyone has their individual preferences so it's hard to recommend particular mods without knowing what you like. To start with, most people will recommend the Unofficial Patches. These fix a lot of bugs and annoyances that Bethesda had missed. The Unofficial Oblivion PatchThe Unofficial Oblivion Patch SupplementalThe Unofficial Official Mods PatchThe Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch Almost all complex mods require The Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) to function properly so that may be your next step. After that, look through the categories that interest you. You can sort them by Endorsements or Downloads to check which ones are the most liked or most popular. If this is your first playthrough though, many would suggest not adding mods until you've played Oblivion for a while and have an idea what would improve your gameplay the most. Have fun with the mods!

bben46
Check the top 100 lists - those are the most popular mods, and probably the same ones that will be recommended by almost anyone - that's how they got in the top 100. However, nearly everyone has a few of their own favorites that didn't make the top lists. If you can be specific on a particular mod you would like that is not in the lists - maybe someone has a suggestion.
