rando3
I find the streets and cities of Oblivion to be dark so I use a light spell every 20 seconds. Are there any mods that either increase the brightness of existing street lamps and/or adds bright street lamps to city/town/crossroads to Oblivion? Nothing fancy just simple stand-alone lamp mod not a packaged deal. There's nothing like the lone lamp post in the wilderness where the bandits gather. Harvald
Its much better to have a light with you like an oil-lamp Have fun Harvald
rando3
I will try this mod. It's just that Imperial City and surround settlements would look so much better lit up at night. I guess it would crash the game.
jamochawoke
They already have tons of lights all over. Have you tried upping your gamma on your monitor? I used to think the Thief games were terrible until I did that lol.
rando3
That makes night time look like daylight. Think dark, gloomy, haunting thick mist broken by a strong streetlight. I can see the concept of the Reaper Lamp being expanded into cross road lamps.
jamochawoke
In reality, and in Oblivion, lights make the surrounding area not immediately around them darker due to contrast. And you can fine-tune your gamma value... it's got quite a bit of range on most monitors. Edited October 3, 2011 by jamochawoke
Harvald
Hi, perhaps you might go the other way. First you make the nights darker and then you enlight the game. You could use these mods for the work:City Lights - Imperial CityCities Alive At Night Better Lighting and Better Torches Don't forgethave fun Harvald  Edited October 4, 2011 by Harvald
rando3
I would have to nix Darker N8 because it would conflict with my weather mod. I found 'Original Color Darker Nights' almost pitch black. In Morrowind I ajusted the light in the ini file to such an level that only light source was the torch as a result the MCA bandits were upon you before you saw them. I thought about just changing the Oblion.ini but I am uncertain what to look for and may change the wrong command. Are all three light mods compatible together? Use All Natural, it comes with an ini, which you can tweak to make nights darker to your liking.
rando3
Any weather mod would be overwritten in the Batch. The description for N8 say that it changes the light level for the rain. I decided to re-install 'Always Foggy' [ie little or no rain], but keep it seperate from the Batch so as to prevent overwrite [ I use it to hide the continuosly changing landscape]. The OCDN looks more promising and is almost pitch black, which is the goal. However I would still like to know if the above three lamp mods are compatible and not occuping the same places.
