CommanderCrazy
Actually, in the 1.9 Pre Release, its only use is to do enchantments. The higher the level, the higher powered enchantments you can make

ziitch
As soon as I heard that there are enchantments, I only have one thing to say: "Dear Notch, please stop making an Elder Scrolls game. We already have five of them." I mean really, look at all the added features, and tell me how many of them came from the TES genre. And, to be honest, after messing with it a bit I liked the old pre-1.8 survival where it would give you a lot of room to be creative in your environment and focus on gathering constructive resources, but now all the new stuff eventually becomes an annoyance because it takes away a lot of this time. Or, to put it this way, it's micromanagement. With this new system, it would just be better to carry minimal and low-quality supplies because you're likely to die in any large cave you come across. Whereas pre-1.8, you would often wear a full set of armor and have your best tools with you, along with some items that instantly give you health, and in the end you would be able to survive and carry out a large stash. Otherwise, the surface terrain generation is great, but underground still needs work. Less caves and ravines, that's all I'm saying.
Halororor
Complaining about Minecraft taking features from TES is arbitrary, as 90% of the features available is available in the vast majority of RPGs.
