ULAMSS5
Hello everyone! I've been Googling around the problem and numerous people have suggested posting their problems on this site for more "specialized" assistance, so here I am :) Problem: When I start Oblivion, I get 2 seconds of black-screen, the default windows' loading cursor, then it just closes. I don't see any introduction credits, loading or menus. I have installed the patches and DLC, incl. Shivering Isles. I'm also currently running a no-CD patch, but this problem existed before I used the no-CD patch. I have not even successfully started Oblivion once on this computer. Machine specifications: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 64-bitCPU: Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo T9600 @ 2.80GHz Penryn 45nm TechnologyRAM: 3.89 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 532MHz (7-7-7-20)Motherboard: LENOVO 2768HJ8Graphics: Generic PnP Monitor (1280x800@60Hz) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series (Lenovo)Hard Drive: 488GB FUJITSU MJA2500BH G2 ATA Device (SATA) Note: The OS is a fresh installation, just an hour before I installed Oblivion. I have installed the drivers, Java, DirectX, Flash Player, .Net4.0. Did I miss anything?
HeyYou
I'm also currently running a no-CD patch <- Not supported here, and will get you banned for bringing it up. If you have a retail version of the game, get rid of the crack, and state that you do indeed have a retail copy.
bben46
Typically the crash you describe is from either a missing master (esm) , a master that is loaded after an esp or trying to start a game that needs OBSE when OBSE is not started first. Some NO CD patches can cause problems with the game - but usually installing rather than running. The security software used by Beth will block the game if it detects some no CD programs even installed on your computer - whether it is being used for Oblivion or not. If you have a legal DVD version of the game - Lose the no CD patch, or rename it to something else to hide it from the installer. Put the original DVD in and try it. If you do not have a legal version, please take your problem back where you got it from. It would help if you tell us what version of the game you have, If it is from DVD, or a downloaded version, if downloaded where from (yes it does matter even with the legal downloaded versions) what mods & DLCs you have and their load order, What utility programs you use - BOSS, OBMM, OBSE, Wrye Bash etc. Where you installed the game - default or custom location. ULAMSS5
Oh. That was rather careless of me. I've found the problem. I'm using the DVD GOTY retail version. After successfully installing from Disc 1, I happily downloaded and installed the patches, including those of Shivering Isles and KoTN, which were still un-installed from disc 2(Frankly, I was rather puzzled about why I didn't need disc 2 at all). The problem probably originated there. I've installed Disc 2's stuff, then I re-patched everything just to be sure. Works flawlessly now, including the No-CD patch. Thanks guys!
