pipelighter
MODS - if this is in the wrong place don't hesitate to move it - but please leave a reply to sat where it has gone. I want to change the textures of some of the Tapestries - paintings etc. I can do this by pasting new pictures and re-saving (and using archinvalidation). Thats fine. What I cannot figure out is how I get those blue n.dds textures. I can see they are probly embossed but every time I do this they come out grey and the reulting picture has spotting all over it. Can anyone give me a 1;2;3;4;5 step sequence to achieving this. I have both Photoshop and Paint.net to play with. Many thanks
Lanceor
The blue/purple _n.dds images are normal maps. For something really quick and dirty, just save a copy of the original image as a normal map. It won't be ideal, but at least your textures will show in-game. To create a proper normal map, the normal map filter comes with the DDS plugin for Photoshop. Theres a Tutorial in the Wiki if you want some detailed instructions. (I use GIMP for normal maps so I don't know how it works with Photoshop.) :)
