gothictrwe
I am having a major problem, I decided that I would try to play oblivion again, I used to play it before on my PC without any problems. I installed it up, and I made a character, but only about 1 minute later, the PC shuts off, it has happened before, but only the last year I tried to play, and I'm beginning to get reall pissed about this problem. If anyone has any tips for me or has any idea what it might be, please do share it. I would think that since I can play Fallout NV on max graphic i should be able to play oblivion... Lisnpuppy
How long do you play before it happens? Is your computer overheating perhaps?
gothictrwe
How long do you play before it happens? Is your computer overheating perhaps? no I don't think so, I just started my computer and started the game, and 1 minute in playing (after making character) it just simply shuts off the computer. I think it's really weird because i can play, Fallout, Mass Effect 2 and other games, but not Oblivion, i could play it just fine before, but now it shuts off my PC. bben46
Computer shutting down, almost always a power problem somewhere. Have you made any hardware changes since the last time you played Oblivion on that computer? If it shuts down then immediately restarts - (Reboot) it's caused by the +5 volt in the power supply dropping too low. This can be caused by an overheating video board as well as many other things. Such as a failing or weak power supply. Most inexpensive big name computers have an underpowered supply that are made to power only the original components that came with the computer - changing the video card can mean needing to change the power supply also. Be sure to unplug the computer before sticking your hand inside. :whistling: First thing to check is if the fan on the video board is working - and that the air channels on it are not clogged with dust. While in there, check all of the fans and clean out the evil dust bunnies that accumulate in every computer over time. :ermm: Remove and re plug in all boards. Many video cards have an extra power connection directly from the power supply - unplug it and plug it back in, make sure it is plugged in tight. Before powering back up, make sure you have plugged everything back in properly.

No it simply shuts off and stays that way, but I came to think of something, all the times i played oblivion i used crack, but one day i decided i wanted to buy it, so when i formated my PC (like I do really often) i wouldn't have to dl it again, but after I started using oblivion in the CD-ROM it made the PC shut off, so maybe it's something with my cd-rom? I have checked all my fans, they work (did that some time ago) and cleaned my PC for dust, i haven't changed any components, and my power supply is Corsair 550W power supply, but I think it's the CD-ROM i use crack for fallout and other games, but not oblivion, and all the other games runs like a clock, no pc shutdown, so I'm fairly sure it's the CD-ROM. I'll try to install a crack and run oblivion and see if it works, I'll pm you and tell you the results, might take sometime since the shutdown's times might vary.
