Game freeze after save load

I recently (re)modded Oblivion with almost every half-decent-looking mod I came across. As far as I can tell, there are no detrimental conflicts (according to mod authors and BOSS). The game seems to load up fine, and start a new game okay (with a minor bug - see notes at the bottom of the post). However, whenever I try to load a save, even after just starting up Oblivion, the save loads fine, but freezes 0.5-3 seconds after completion, and doesn't recover.

Here is my mod list from Wrye Bash (It is VERY large):

  Reveal hidden contents

Just in case it's not apparent in that list, I'm also running:

  Reveal hidden contents

With an exception or two, these are all up-to-date (those that aren't, aren't required to be by the mods that use them). If anyone wants exact version numbers though, I'd be happy to look them up.

I'm also running a couple texture packs/replacers (QTP3 being the most notable).

NOTES:

-All of the mods that required cleaning according to BOSS have been cleaned

-Bashed patch was build using BOSS tags, and mods tagged for merge by Wrye Bash have been merged. All checked by hand, twice.

-This is my third time trying to install with all of these mods. The first time resulted in default eyes being solid black, so I reinstalled. Not sure if the bug was present then, but most likely was. The last two installs haven't had the black eye bug, but both had this issue with the freezing after loading a save.

-In the first install, Oblivion started new games fine, until I tried to alter things to fix the black eyes, which resulted in UV2 and some other mods popping up messages just after clicking "New", but before loading began. This didn't occur in the second install, but seems to be happening now after I deactivated and deleted one of the MMM esp extras that apparently conflicts with OOO (something about combat variables or somesuch).

-I wasn't using UOPS, USIP, or weOCPS for the first two installs. I thought one of them might fix the issue... but alas.

-I do have a somewhat vague install order written down, if anyone wishes to see it.

If anyone has any help to offer, I would much appreciate it!

There is a limit to how many plugins you can run...... I don't know what the exact number is. I have seen some debate on the use of weOCPS...... it may have a side result of corrupting savegames....... (I don't use it....) RefStuff has been pretty much integrated into OBSE, are you using any mods that specifically require it? Some versions of OBGE have been seen to be problematic as well. If nothing else, make sure you have the latest and greatest versions of those..... Same with Pluggy. Roll back to the latest stable version. (your current version is the development version......)

I have been using Wecops since it first came out with no corrupted saves. Through several playthroughs with various mods and on both Winxp 32 bit and then Win7 x64. Actually I have never had a corrupted save at all, used quick saves, save on travel, save on rest, overwriting a save many times, over 1000 saves in a game etc. also used streamsave for a while (part of the streamline mod) and never a corrupt save. Maybe I've just been lucky.

I would try first try running with most of those utility programs disabled. OBSE and OBMM should be OK. Next add back Wecops and fast exit as those are all used by quite a few people with no problems.

Then the others one at a time. Let us know what you find.

Thanks for the posts guys! I did some things... The main of which was removing OBME, which appears to be the cause. It seems only Dan's Necromancy uses it. While I do like the idea of that mod, it seems a lot of people have trouble with it, so I'll just have to scrap it.

As for Pluggy, I noticed a log that comes with the Dev v132, stating it "can" cause CTDs on save load. However, Fearsome Magicka requires that AND Refstuff. While I've NEVER had problems with these three before, is there any workaround to get Fearsome Magicka working with Pluggy v125 and no Refstuff?

Thanks again!
