BuckeyeTiba
"Master Trader - every merchant in world gains 1000 gold for bartering" That perk is on a list of confirmed perks for the speech skill. However, I am a bit confused as to what it means/what it exactly does. It's very vague so if anyone knows anything, please elaborate.

I think it means Skyrim is using the same LAME system oblivion used for merchants... which is to say they have an unlimited supply of gold, at a set amount.(no items worth can be covered above that amount) and with that said, the perk becomes self explainitory(I could be wrong tho,.. *shrug*) Edited October 4, 2011 by El`derina
InuyashaFE
Oh well, someone will mod that out. Making the perk more or less useless.

natelovesyou
I don't think it's going to be like Oblivion, I think it's going to be more like the mod Living Economy or what was in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. "Every merchant in the world gains 1000 gold for bartering" I believe just means that the "ceiling" of what they usually can have is just raised by that amount, that they're just generally have more money. I loved the Living Economy mod, and the desperation of wandering the IC looking for a merchant with enough gold to buy my Ebony loot.
Jagex
I saw in some places, it said that merchants got +10k gold. Maybe it was typo? :psyduck:

That's what I thought it was going to be like all along. I don't care either way- unlimited merchant gold is awfully convenient, and a real living economy is just that much more immersive, and brings more of a sense of buying and selling into the game. I would actually prefer the latter, but either way is fine by me.
Wolfey86
Didn't Todd say that every town would have it's own living economy? I would think that's a good idea as to what they're doing.
BuckeyeTiba
To be honest guys, I didn't really get much in depth into the mercantile system in Oblivion and previous games, so can someone explain what all this means about the idea of simply making more gold in the game. That's really the only reason why I'm considering the Speech skill. Gold in Oblivion was hard to come by IMO.
