What Program should I use?

HI guys Im new to the whole modding thing can you guys suggest a program to use.

GECK is the main program for modding NV, also Geck Video tutorial page is probably the best place to start to learn.

GECK is the program used for getting mods into the game, and making buildings and new locations and quests,

 

If you want to do modelling or texturing

 

GIMP or Photoshop would be good for texturing.

 

Blender or 3DS max are used for Modelling.

And of course, if you're changing any item in the game at all, you'll need NifSkope. That's also a must. :)

GECK is what you want to use to begin with, although the mass amount of records in fallout makes it a little intimidating. Try starting with something simple, Making recipes (FONV only), Altering misc/aid items, Altering weapons, armor. Etc is VERY simple.

 

Making new stuff takes some more skill to actualy get it into the game (Or you can use player.additem for now)

 

FNVedit is what you'll also want to use to do some tasks, like cleaning your mod before release.

Totaly diffrent interface, but it tends to work really well for some tasks that geck does not.
