Squeecky
The more I progress in the main quest line, the more often my game crashes. Like.. For example, Enclave soldiers Vs The Enclave Commander mod, when they fight the game crashes incredibly often. Load order shouldn't have anything to do with it, its always on areas that are affected by the quest progress. My load order is down below incase it matters, which I doubt. I have had this everytime in my playing in Fallout 3. BlackRampage
For example, Enclave soldiers Vs The Enclave Commander mod, when they fight the game crashes incredibly often. That sounds like the game, or rather, your computer simply can't handle all the graphics going on during the fighting. Especially if you have mods like EVE or MMM. Also: I don't see a merged patch. I'm not exactly the biggest supporter of making merged patches, but considering the amount of mods you've got (and your earlier problems too) it might be a good idea to make one. Squeecky
I have no idea what that is or how to make it. And every esp I add means I have to remove a mod, cuz I'm at my limit.
AlfredTetzlaff
Hi, merged patches are created with FO3Edit and here you'll find a nice manual for it.
Squeecky
Thanks.. I'll take a look at it later - Do they really fix anything or help ?
Squeecky
I'm a working man, I can hardly go through 147 pages.. Sigh, thanks anyway.
iFSS
Do they really fix anything or help ?Yes. There's no downside at all to using a merged patch, they are to make sure that all of the intentionally merge-able lists of things in mods, are merged, so nothing is missing. Made-up, simplified, and probably badly-explained example:The following mods add grenades to the game. The order here is the same as the load order. Fallout Wobbly Edition adds Butter Grenades.Epileptic Visuals Enhanced adds Strobe Grenades.Apoplectic Armory adds Repetitive Grenades. Without a merged patch, the grenade list will look like this:Repetitive Grenades Only Repetitive Grenades will appear at vendors, in crates, on enemies, etc, as it is the last in the load order (and the Apoplectic Armory lists override the previous ones). Any script that relies on Butter Grenades or Strobe Grenades being present in the places they should be, will be broken, and some events may never trigger. With a merged patch, the lists where the grenades are present will be merged and appear in the patch, looking like this:Butter GrenadesStrobe GrenadesRepetitive Grenades The merged patch's lists will override the previous ones, so the grenades will all be where they should be, and the mods will work as intended. Squeecky
It sounds really usefull, but as I said.. Reading a 147 page manuel is something I just don't have the time for, and I was told it wasn't at all that easy to make merge paths, and I'd likely end up stressing and working it out on the people who don't deserve it, and I hate doing that. BlackRampage
Right. I'm assuming you've already installed FO3Edit? If not, do so. Start FO3Edit. Then you get a screen where you get to select which plugins you want FO3Edit to load. Select all plugins. FO3Edit's "background loader" will then start loading all plugins you selected. Depending on the amount it might take a while.Wait for it to finish. After that, select all of the loaded plugins in the left section. (just select the topmost one, then scroll down to the lowermost one and select that one while holding down the Shift button to select them all at once, or just use Crtl + A) Then right-click on any one of the selected plugins to bring up the context menu. In it: Select "Create Merged Patch". Give it a fancy name. After Fo3Edit has finished creating it you get a new .esp all the way at the bottom of your load order.Close Fo3Edit and let it save the new merged patch. Load up FoMM and your new merged patch should be all the way at the bottom of your load order. That's it.
Squeecky
..WHY DOES THAT NEED A 147 PAGE MANUAL. ;D Haha, Alright. I'll do that and get back to you guys soon, thanks man! I'll have to remove one of my mods first though, seeing I'm at the max ESP capacity my game can handle.
