arsenalw80
MSI FX603-018UShttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152270Acer AS7741G-6426http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834115990 Which one would be better for college work, Some gaming(The games don't need to be maxed out, Just playable, So low settings is fine with me, just as long as they can run.)And just normal use? Its not going to be a purely gaming laptop, I have college work to do on it, But I want to be able to play games like: Crysis 1-2, ARMA 2, Fallout New Vegas/FO3, FEAR 3/FEAR Combat, Mass effect 1-3, GTA4, L4D1-2, GRID, Dirt 3, Borderlands, Breach, Nuclear Dawn, Rainbow six Vegas 1-2, Aliens vs Predator(newest one) and Killing floor. Those are the only games I play, So if it could play those(lowest settings is fine) that would be great. I know these can run the older and weaker games like RSV2, L4D, Fallout, Killing floor, GRID, Nuclear Dawn, And FEAR combat, And maybe ME1-2, But the other games I don't know so if someone could confirm if either of these could play those games that would be great. If there is a better option out there for a similar price, I would love to know about it. Thanks.
hoofhearted4
first off, buying a computer for school work doesnt mean anything. any computer can handle Microsoft Word and Excel and what have you. they can all run the internet just fine. so in essence you want to buy a laptop that can handle games. especially since you have quite a list of games there.(i count 22)...i dont consider myself a huge PC gamer, even though i am building a gaming PC, and i only play about half the amount of games you do lol, basically what im saying is it seems you will be using ur laptop for gaming more then you think ;) on that note, laptops arent good for gaming. they get a lot of use when they handle high end games (even on lower settings) and tend to burn out faster.....from the 2 laptops you picked out, they are pretty much identical. both will handle games, at a laptop level...the MSI would be the one i get. however i would recommend you get an Asus laptop. their laptops tend to be a little stronger when it comes to gaming, im using one right now and it can handle games (again at a laptop lvl) ive played FONV on it and many RTSs and RPGs. just fine....however my laptop was around $1000, which is a little more then the ones you picked out. (and to this day i regret spending so much on a laptop when i should have just built a PC to begin with lol) but ya, any laptop can handle school work. so its all about finding one that can handle games. and since you said you dont care if its low settings, either will do you fine. Vecna6667
Same thing with my laptop at the time I bought it. Of the two you picked in terms of gamming, I'd trust the Acer model based on the graphics card a little more than the other. It would have been much better if it had a comparible Llano cpu from AMD for a hybrid crossfire configuration. Crysis and Crysis 2 are very demanding.
