Deleted3020859User
Ahoy roamers of this forum, So as the title says, a thing that has bugged me in Oblivion is that every NPC you walk past offers his greetings. Guards, merchants, couriers. Everyone seems to want to wish you a good day like your some kind of celebrity. I would love to see that changed, to like a quarter (25%) of what it is now possibly based on infamy/fame. However, I got absolutely no modding experience and am usually a disaster at scripting.. So I'm wondering if the above has already been done, or if someone feels like making this a reality. I've searched around on the site and on here but with no avail. Anyone know if a mod exists to reduce NPC greetings? / Anyone willing to make said mod? Can't wait to walk past NPC's and not being greeted for a change. Thanks in advance! Keirgarth
Not sure about no greetings, or limited greetings, but there is a mod which I believe is called "No more annoying comments" that might help some.
Deleted3020859User
Not sure about no greetings, or limited greetings, but there is a mod which I believe is called "No more annoying comments" that might help some. Thanks, but that seems to be for when you max out some of your skills. ^^ I haven't had that happen to me yet, but I'll certainly keep that one in the back of my head. Seeing it was doable with that mod, I might try to download and decipher it to see if I can minimize the greetings of NPC's. I don't want them entirely gone, but try running into five NPC's in a row. They all greet you, and it's (For me) rather annoying. xD Would anyone be willing to aid? Give a hint as to what code I should look for.. etc? Or well, I'd still love to see someone make a mod like this. The fame/infamy thing was just optional and wouldn't mind it if it was entirely removed. mercury00
I would love to see this. I pisses me off that every *@#& npc on the planet wants to say hi to you every time you wander by, especially the guards "I'm listening citizen". I want my NPC to be able to say "Shove off" or "Who asked you?". What other game does this? Playing a bunch of the Gothic series games, the NPC's were all scripted, but they seemed to act smarter than the AI from Oblivion. They greeted you appropriately (either ignored you and kept to themselves like normal, non-stalker, non-psychopaths, or asked you what the *#&% you wanted), and if you drew a weapon in public, or near them, they all pulled their weapons and said "Put the weapon away" - if you didn't heed their warning, they attacked you. In Oblivion you can just wander up to storekeepers with a naked blade and start bartering - once again, a little bit psychopathic. But that's beside the point. I know a bit about modding, but I've never bothered looking into this because I'd rather play the game. I'd be happy to help in what ways I can though. AnimalRiot
Wrye Bash's Bashed Patch has a tweak that adjusts NPC's greeting distance, perhaps changing it to the least possible distance would help minimize NPC greetings.
