austinrocks
My high level was from going to jail a few times, I was playing a theif and got caught stealling a few times and the skills dropped. The skills, Speed, Strength, Luck, ect are what limit the levels, the skills max out at a 100, once you reach a 100 on all the skills you can not advance anymore, most skills start out around 50, the skills that are important to your characters type are higher, and those less important are less, when you sleep you can raise three skills one point, this is what limits the level that you can obtain. The reason I cheated the skill was to really see how the game changed at the very high levels and to see if there was a limit, this thread made me curious, and I really expected it to be 255, that is the limit for the skills, and the attributes like sneak, light armor, blade, however you can not achieve higher than 100 in the game. I found that I could cheat the level much higher, 367 is where I stopped, so I am not sure if 512 is the limit or not. As far as game play I found that I really like having the level at 1. The character can wear nothing at all and still go through the quest, I have some really cute Light Armour outfits, from Eshme's modifications, but nothing in the heavy armour. So I have gone back to my level 1 game, I am wondering if I need to raise the level for Rhianna though, I believe she raises her level with the character, and so far she is having a lot of problems, like she can not swim. The Well quest was a disaster when she followed my character in the well and drowned, and she had had problems swimming across rivers and such, I have given her a breathing scroll, I believe her level rises with the character. A lot of Rhianna's abilities open up at higher levels. She can't even heal you until level 3, so you're missing a lot of her fun by staying at level 1. -Jumonji

I really love have the creator on the forum, Rhianna rocks.

Thanks for the info as I found it very interesting. There has been discussion's about playing the game at level one several times. I found as I have said that my own characters seemed to rise way to quickly for my liking. I would still say you should try a Level slowing MOD like the one I use which is from 2 to 5 times slower than normal. I found that I did much better with my character development. I to did not want my guy to have to wear all that stuff that made him look like some dude out of the dark ages. It is a kind of trade off. you will need more protection as you rise in levels but keeping your character at low levels dopes not let you do many of the quests such as the dadric quests. You can find some very cool light armor MOD's at nexus.com that offer protection and style. In he end both light and heavy armor reach the same point. Wearing light lets you move quicker and carry more and heavy gives you more protection with less amount you can carry. You can develop your sneak and get items that give you less ability to be seen and still wear some great looking armor. Keep me posted on your progress and good luck. arrenmog
i never use slower leveling mods or mods that add armour or any mods that will effect gameplay or how good/bad my characterwill be. if my character leves too quickly or to slowly i don't mind as hes suposed to so hes not 'too' anything. whenever i play oblivion, the only mods i use are ones that make the game more varied and interesting but without affecting gameplay in any way. for example: elabourate eyes, darker nights, illumination within, border remover, colour map mod, book jackets standard res, open cities and all the unique landscapes. these make oblivion much more enjoyable to play bet without making it unfair or a different game to play. so that is why i would never use rhianna as it changes the difficulty of the game. occasionally i use akatosh mount to have some fun and download weapons to see what they look like or use the add all icons mods to find the locations of daedra shrines but thats about it. Micko
I made a spell that drains athletics and trained it up to 150. It's a good one to do since it helps fatigue regen and makes you run faster. Currently at lvl 58 and all major skills maxed with picking most at lowest possible start values, one wasn't. Could have got higher training other majors over 100 but couldn't be bothered and is no real use. So yeah, without the athletics extra guess I'd be about 53.

I appreciate your commitment to Bethesda's vision of Oblivion. For me, I just turned the difficulty slider all the way up when I added Rhianna. Now I don't get lonely anymore on my adventures. However, she may be immortal, but I'm not. I die all the time. :) -Jumonji

It's a good one to do since it helps fatigue regen and makes you run faster. Skills above 100 don't have any greater affect than those skills at 100. And your amount of fatigue is goverend by attributes (strength endurance and agility), not be athletics. I started training my sneak from the begining of the game, got it up to 75. Then when I chose is as a major skill, and agility as a major attribute my sneak got bumped up to 115. Its no better than sneak at 100.

Try jumping onto Rosethorn Manor balcony with 100 acrobatics, you can't do it. With 150 you can do it easily. Get your athletics to 150 then cast a drain 50 spell on yourself so you're back to 100 and start running, when it wears off you'll see just how much faster you go with the extra 50. Now to main topic. I calculated I'd be about 53.5 without doing drain skill training. If I picked the stuff from Hermaeus Mora that increased major skills I could have got 2 more levels and been past 53.5 ps. Sneak is a dodgy one, mine went to 110 recently from Hermaeus Mora and now I get 6x with hand to hand but only 1x with blade on sneak attacks. pps. Try reading what people have said correctly, where did I mention athletics affects your fatigue total?
arrenmog
the reason i thought that 53.5 is the top level is because i used this http://www.linklost.com/occ/ and made something like a nord thief or orc mage, something like that anyway. try it yourself its a really cool tool so you can find the max lvl of your character. i think my argonian warriors top evel is something like 48 but i cant remember.
