Most Unstable Sections

I think that we should post a library of unstable sections and maybe some of the more talented modders could maybe build a fix for them.

 

 

Hardware

 

 

360 gigs of harddrives(1 60 Gig Cheetah Drive 1 300 gig Barracuda Drive)

8 gigs ram(been a long time since I cracked my case open but I think its DDR3 might be 2)

ATi Radeon 5870

Asus gaming mobo

AMD Quad core 4.0 GHz

 

 

 

Crashes ARE random for me. I am running a few high texture packs.

 

Vanilla

 

 

Anywhere in Freeside for some reason crashes a lot

Occassionally outside GS Saloon or Store

Pretty much everywhere in the waste,usually around many NPCS,tried with and without the IWS spawner but to no avail

Vaults(had this problem in FO3 too)

Endgame fights are horrible,with or without IWS,instacrash so i hide in the corner and let them kill each other. Part of the reason why I havent been progessing :/

Generally HH is the most stable with DM,I dont usually crash in them often.

 

OWB

 

 

I crash a lot in the sink,lose textures usually only IN the sink itself

Occasional crash in think tank

Crash after Giant RoboScorp

Crash after meeting Mobius

 

 

 

OWB is VERY tempermental,Sometimes I can play it thru entirely others I crash in 10 minutes,dunno why.

In all honesty,I run MORE stably in the DLCs than I do vanilla strangely. I rarely get CTDs in the DLCs,its vanilla I can run like crap. Also,using my radio causes crashing in Vanilla locations. I can use my radio all day in the DLCs.

I'm convinced that at least 93% of my random crashes are caused by the sound engine. You can try tweaking sound settings with the Configator. One thing that prevents almost all crashes for me is to leave a video file paused in the background with the fddshow filters loaded when I run the game. This is purely Works On My Machine, however.

The Honest Hearts crashes you mentioned annoy the crap out of me. After crashing about 5 times during the grenade launcher part. I literally lost it and forced my character to sprint through everyone during that sequence just so i could avoid the crash. It worked but that's hardly something i should need to do. The best part is i then got up to the gecko part and i crashed...
