Yes and no.

Unarmed in terms of live, working combat does indeed exist. However, there isnt a skill associated with it so it is a set number for damage.

You are capable of non-lethal bar fights, but beyond that a fist fight with unarmored or underarmored NPCs seems to end swiftly and deadly.

In an article a journalist made it to Rifton in an attempt to find and join the thieves guild. Upon entering the sewers he was jumped. Upon killing his assailants he found the "gloves of pugilism" which boosted H2H damage by 15 or so. This enabled him to kill any other enemy in the sewers within 2 hits often accompanied by a 'neck snapping finisher'.

Also heavy armor gauntlets have a perk to boost H2H damage. Beyond that, it doesnt have any other known perks or known sneak attack multipliers.

Do we know how magic works if fighting with fists? Since you can't use magic while holding a shield or sword can you do it while fighting with your fists? Or do your fists still count as weapons by having to "unequip" them first by un-balling them or whatever?

Im really wondering whether someone who wishes to use hand to hand for melee damage will have an easier time using magic than someone who primarily uses a sword and shield.

Magic has to be equipped in your hand if you want to use it.

So you can't have both fists up and casting magic at the same time, you can still have a spell in your left hand and a fist in your right, or the other way around.
