Ehh, no. Summons do not run off and hunt. They attack any hostile close enough to notice you or it, and that's a little too close for sneaky characters to enjoy.

But two or three Bandits loitering in a large room inside an Ayleid ruin is going to have an interesting dance when an arrow whisles out of the dark, strikes one of them in the chest and, for an instant, turns that Bandit into your friend (and hence an enemy of every other Bandit in the world). He goes hostile against the other Bandits, they go hostile against him, and even though the magical effect quickly wears off, neither side forgets the hostility they've shown to each other.

To even out the charge count I added a 3-point Fire Damage effect with a wide splash to sweeten the sting, figuring that the splash of fire will cause any surrounding hostiles to consider the damage to have been an actual attack by the converted target, thus cementing the hostility between them after the Command effect wears off.

I haven't seen how this all works with bona fide magic spells, but speaking from the viewpoint of a Stealth-based character with an enchanted bow, it works well enough with a physical ranged attack.
