poopers69 Posted October 12, 2011 Share Posted October 12, 2011 (edited) I recently started to play oblivion and shivering isle again and it ran fine. well i tried to download some mods to spice things up and this has been the worst nightmare because now oblivion crashes at the start up. To make things short i downloaded the popular mods which includes the official update for oblivion and shivering isles along with the unofficial ones. but it started to crash nomatter what i did. So i uninstalled and reinstalled oblivion about 4 times now to go back to the game's defaults and i still find DLCshiveringisles.esp, oblivion citadel door fix.esp, oblivion .esm, unoffical oblivion patch.esp, Vampire Aging fix.esp. in my data files when i open the PLAY, DATA FILES, etc. I have tried deleting ALL data files, all of the files in my computer/my games/oblivion and i even changed my oblivion.ini to skip all movie preloaders and it just shows the loading bar without it moving and crashes in 3 secs. Deactivating all the other esp still make it crash no matter what order they are in. Please help, this is my favorite game and i just wanted to make it a little bit more fun with mods but i ended up "F"ing myself in the A. I think i might need to uninstall it completely somehow but i dont know. PLEEEEAAASSSEEE HEEEELLLLPPP. Im going crazy trying to figure this out. Ive raped the internetz and still found no help. HeyYou Posted October 12, 2011 Share Posted October 12, 2011 Uninstall the game again. Delete both the install folder, AND the one in My Games. Empty recycle bin, reboot. Reinstall the game. if you are running vista, or win7, do NOT put the game in the default location. Put it in C:\Games\Oblivion. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kingtitan Posted October 12, 2011 Share Posted October 12, 2011 The Unofficial Patch causes a LOT of conflicts with other mods. It's like the bully on the playground, it doesn't play nice with other mods. I highly suggest removing it and staying as far away from it as possible. Just read the comments, I think I saw only one that was for it but the other 19 or so (that I read) all talked about problems that the "patch" had caused their game. Just stick with the official patches and you should be good to go. But like the above, if you have to completely uninstall, reinstall to that location not to the default one. Solves a lot of problems later on! Also, if you can post your load order so we know what all mods you are using. And, if you want to uninstall there should be a way to do that in the Computer's control panel. That should remove the default files that the game installed. To get rid of any additional content go to your program files/bethesda softworks/oblivion folder and just delete the oblivion folder. Post your results. YAY! but now i am having trouble with installing the major overhall mods (FCOM) I believe, also ive been trying to get the deadly reflex 6 mod to work but it seems that there are many other mod plugins that i need in order for it to work. Can you shed some light and tell me if those programs have problems with any other mods? Do the mods make the game glitch really bad after it works? and is it even worth the pain in the ass im putting myself through? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
HeyYou Posted October 13, 2011 Share Posted October 13, 2011 I run FCOM, and, when installed properly, RADICALLY alters game play. (which is what I wanted.) Does not affect game stability. DR6 has quite few requirements, and still has a few bugs in it..... I suggest reading the thread on the official forums for information on that. OBSE, and the assorted plugins that you can use with it can actually make the game MORE stable..... I have a rather extensive load list, including OBSE, and a handful of plugins for it, and I can play a good long time before encountering problems. poopers69 Posted October 17, 2011 Author Share Posted October 17, 2011 Alright well its been awhile and ive had quite a mess with the FCOM and DR6 packages. Ive got everything to function correctly but now im missing mesh files. :( ughh but i think im messing somekind of mesh download or .bsa file. im not really sure what it could be but i know the gold coin mesh is missing along with new goblin weapons in the beginning cave and sewers, and there is a lot of missing mesh files for creatures and fish, aquatic life. Ive tried rewriting my oblivion.ini file to upload the .bsa files but it has too many characters so it doesnt save. Could this the problem and i need to edit or download something to alter the .ini, or am i missing a mesh files that i still need to download or do I have it? if you need me to post some info I will happily if you could help me do this.
