Hello everyone!

I'm a new member so sorry for posting a topic that been posted again...I'm doing this cause all previous posts were..let's say useless to me an i assure you i follow step by step all instructions given. So here is my issue..

I installed once Oblivion while Windows Vista running my laptop..the game was running (although lagging was annoying sometimes). That's doesn't affect me at all.

After i saw that Vista was a hard version for the laptop i format it..I get a XP Professional version and i can say the change was goood!

I installed the game all in my happiness and it happen.. it Crashed . I thought it was the installation fault so i uninstall the game and reinstall it..Same probem.

I try to get solutions on the net but none of them helps..

1) install the latest patch...nothing happens..

2) install the latest patch and a crack file---naaahh

3)follow instructions as written in http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/50521-oblivion-startup-crash/

4)De-activate and then activate the mobs and also do the changes with the .esm files as said in other topics

Know it's tiring but anyone could help me i'll appreciate a lot.. I loved the game and once i played it i want to do so again...

(NOTICE: I installed all the drivers needed for)

PLEEEAASE!!!

My guess is something messed up in the install.

That thread you referenced is OLD! We have learned a lot since then. Also, it references putting another esm before the Oblivion.esm - DO NOT do this. The Oblivion.esm MUST always be the first file in the data list.

Note - the in game data list is NOT the load order and doesn't really matter. To see the real load order you will need a program such as OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

The first time you start the game after a reinstall, You should have NO mods. Then, always install mods one at a time - or when one causes a problem, you will not know which one and will spend hours - or days trying to figure it out.

Oblivion works just fine in both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of XP, Vista, and Win7. If you have a problem with one, you will probably have the same problem with any of the others.

Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the WIKI section of the Nexus

http://wiki.tesnexus...stall_procedure

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice. No Cd cracks WILL cause problems when installing patches. And can cause the game to not install at all just by being on your computer - even if they are not used for the game at all.

If you have a dvd version, the best place to get the official patch is from the official Bethesda site.

http://www.bethsoft....eng/patches.php

Be sure to get the patch that matches the language version of your game.

If you have Oblivion ONLY get the latest Oblivion Patch.

If you have Oblivion+Shivering Isles, get the Shivering Isles Patch AND NOT the Oblivion patch.

If you have the D2D or Impact version - you need to go to D2D or Impact for the patch - the official won't work. And many mods will not work with them either. Patch or not. Not Oblivion's fault.

If you have the Steam version, allow steam to auto patch.

If you have a pirate version, sorry about your luck - cause you don't know what it really is. - anybody that would steal a video game is not above lying about what version it is, what language it is, what they didn't put in, what they added. And installing the wrong patch will make trying to install the right one fail. :teehee:
