PillMonster
It was possible and proven and irrelevant to start. Why argue? Not like it was "restricted to server versions only"... ... ... Is that dig at me or Fomod? As noted above, to join the W10 MS Insider Program an activated copy of Windows 10 and an MS account is required. Pre-release it was W7 or W8, but after RTM MS changed the terms for obvious reasons. You cannot obtain an Insider Preview copy any other way. And the OP here has Vista. Last year, W10 Insiders who had signed up before Build 130 received lifetime retail licenses. That's how I got mine: http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b608/pillmonsta1/Capture_zpsiqtjf4qr.jpg It's actually for any device, not just one. Activated via MS account instead of tied to hardware....:) PS: "server versions only" is in relation to the Intel PAE topic I posted MSDN screenshots at the end of the the thread showing how PAE is restricted to server platforms.Check it out....https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/4071140-pc-upgrade-for-modded-219-skyrim/page-4&do=findComment&comment=38745910 If your comment was not aimed at me then please ignore.  Thread Hijacking is the last thing I want, however I strongly feel some of us have an ethical obligation to ensure the less informed are not mislead by untruthful statements.Similar to watching someone getting mugged while doing nothing to help. That's all....anyway peace out. Edited June 4, 2016 by PillMonster
quicksilverva
I just saw your Motherboard does not support That video card in your first post. I think you may need to buy a new Motherboard for such a gpu you want. It only supports crossfire. https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/M5A97_LE_R20/specifications/ Current build I reviewed your spec sheet before you buying into that mobo, if you have a suggest take action, i can refer a decent sli crossfire mobo for you if you want. Graphics card is not the issue. The GTX 960 SC I have runs flawlessly on this board. Issue is with audio. (1) The card was running fine on Vista before it stopped working. He installed it on a completely different system and it still didn't work. Suggesting an OS upgrade to resolve the issue doesn't help him.(2) Not to mention the card is worth about $35.(3) A new W10 OS is about $150NZD.1) Unclear. The OP never said their card "just stopped working". They said it doesn't work on their new system. This can be a driver compatibility problem.2) False. The OP's card is one of the best gaming cards ever produced and costs around $200: http://www.amazon.com/Sound-Blaster-X-Fi-Titanium-Fatal1ty/dp/B001BDPLJA3) Irrelevant. I suggested conducting a no-cost experiment, not a paid upgrade. (Admittedly, W10 isn't the best OS to use for such; initially I expected the OP to have something already and then just correcting them about having no access to other OS). 1) The card ran fine for a bit after I first started BSODing on driver updates. About 2-3 weeks after is when Windows stopped recognizing it and it stopped working all together. Was hoping this new build would rectify the issue, but it hasn't.2) Card was about $189.99 when I bought it new back in 2009.
blove
New information concerning showing that something that once was has changed to something that is different now...come on, still irrelevant. Yes, the restricted to server thing was a dig at you and your PAE claims. Your "proof" page...the first two operating systems listed are not server versions. The first two operating systems listed are not server versions. But lets ignore those 2005 facts and just jump straight into 2016: Physical Address Extension. And even that is missing Windows 2000 Pro. Thread Hijacking is the last thing I want, however I strongly feel some of us have an ethical obligation to ensure the less informed are not mislead by untruthful statements. Similar to watching someone getting mugged while doing nothing to help. That's all....anyway peace out If you truly feel that way...you know what you have to do. Well that or work on your Googlefu. FMod
1) The card ran fine for a bit after I first started BSODing on driver updates. About 2-3 weeks after is when Windows stopped recognizing it and it stopped working all together. Was hoping this new build would rectify the issue, but it hasn't.I see. Your card is almost certainly dead then. For a new card, the answer depends on your speaker setup. Is it stereo or 5.1, is it a hi-fi setup or small plastic things, or do you use headphones, and if so which. Do you need an external volume control or anything like that, are your speakers connected by digital or analog (the usual jack). Overall the most advanced card you can buy today is Asus Strix, but there's still three versions of it. I'm still partial to the old X-Fi series for their EAX support, but it requires Alchemy to use today, and their driver support is going to get worse.
