DLC JOINABLE FACTIONS? MIDWEST BOS OR ENCLAVE?

Well, all things considered, if any new chapters for the Brotherhood were introduced (even in passing) then Bethesda would need to concoct new lore to explain why they are who they are and why they are where they are and etcetera etcetera.

If Bethesda does abide by New Vegas Lore (an Obsidian game) then the Brotherhood splinter group/internal group Circle of Steel should still be around. As for the origins of the Midwestern Chapter, it has been so long since they left the West Coast that their descendants could be stomping around Canada for all we know.

I've have a backstory for the remnants of the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel in my mod. It is about 3,000 words written out, but I spread it over the dialogue of different npcs who have connections to the story. One particular character is a surviving Calculator robot who tells the story from the perspective of... well... a Calculator robot.

I like the idea of the mid-West BoS in Canada. I would hope to find networks of survivor settlements with the hard work and self-reliance attitude of the Far Harbor survivors.

I'd like this BoS faction to be more like Lyon's Pride, and all factions to have members worth saving much as in Far Harbor, which is probably the best DLC I've come across yet.

I'd like to be able to build or acquire a collection of robot NPCs that could credibly repair and fabricate machinery, tools, etc. better that a person at a workshop or crafting station.

Let us lay out buildings and furnishing and have the bots build them while we do somethings else. When we select and place things we aren't building them, the bots with their tools and attachments will.

Let the settlements be generations old small communities not near anything worth a nuke, where people retained the equipment and skills to harvest and mill wood, build buildings of brick, stone. mortar, concrete and cement.

They are not fancy, but you could credibly comfortably live in them through winter storms. Settler communities that want to grow and restore old pre-war tech.

Let there be pre-war and occupation era bunkers etc. controlled by descendants of the troops that once manned them, the descendants of local communities and survivors who fled the war. Survivors including ghoul family members who fled back to family, to ghoulify and came to be especially valued by their community for a long life worth of experience and wisdom.

I like the idea of elements of the Mid West BoS having migrated into Canada, and finding a home amongst the residents of a sprawling relatively isolated region of small town and cities in an area far enough from targets attractive enough to nuke.

Agricultural areas with lumber mills, small machine shops, welding shops and fabrication facilities that would be common away from large cities. Places with lumber mills, light industry, local power, asphalt and concrete factories, probably scrap recyclers.

Places where people have the work ethic and self-reliance of the people of Far Harbor. Where the radiation was always low, enough gross mutations are few most species even breeds survived, and environmental impacts were low and short term.

Possibly the BoS had to defeat remnants of the occupation army who since the end of the war had established themselves as a local nobility in concert with corruptible local community leaders and collaborators. Possibly the seizure of power was resolved before the BoS arrived.

I just doubt an occupying force and probably colonists from resource hungry occupying invader, would just surrender to a disarmed and subjugated populace.

Mix in a few generations of isolation and “us against the wastelanders” (as described by relatives and refugees who knew these places before the war and fled there ASAP after the war), and I can see one time adversaries intermarrying over generations.

I could even see remnants of the Enclave making their way there having sent at least eye bots out on recon.

Such an area could have bunkers, bases, secret research centers, and even commercial fallout shelters similar to vaults, not to mention well-made settlements in converted ‘modern’ prewar mines that were built with mining and construction bots and equipment in the centuries after the war.

A valley full of good sized family farms could have a comfortable and sizeable settlement out of sight under foot. A peaceful, quiet, defenseless looking valley could be quite the valley of modern death for unwary predators.
