Iconic feeling

I was thinking, maybe the reason its taken me so much longer to get into NV compared to FO3 was the lack of the iconic American 1950s-1960s "perfect" life style undertone to it all. I mean FO3 you saw everything as it was in the old shows, how everything looked like it was built and made to be true dream homes. Then its all destroyed, adds a rather poetic innocence lost sort of feel to it.

NV lacks all of that, it does get the whole malboro cowboy thing down pritty well. But thats sort of a hit or miss situation, you either love cowboys and love it, or you dont and it takes a long while to warm up on you.

Thoughts?

You know that the original Fallout atmosphere was a mix between Mad Max (the Road Warrior) and a Western (especially the Man with No Name) atmosphere?

The whole American way of life was mostly referred to in the Vaults and in minor details like ads for the Corvega, the Mr Handy robot or the whole war backstory (cold war and zero sum references for instance).

You still get references to pre war stuff in FNV. It's not the central element but that isn't a bad thing IMO.

I personally never like the Tranquility Lane part in F3. Then again I'm not American and I personally find cowboys and postapocalyptic warriors more appealling than 50s relics.
