Make gas masks use power armor speech?

Hows it going Nexus?

I've been having a blast so far with Fallout 4 and have started modding it to hell! But I've come across something that tickles that immersion bone in my body, let me explain.

So you know when you have a gas mask on that covers your entire face but you sound like your talking like normal as if nothing was obstructing your mouth?

Well I find that a little distracting.

I haven't really done modding before, the last thing I did was a randomized main screen replacer for Skyrim, so I figured I'd ask for advice before I start delving into the Creation Kit blindly.

I figure there must be some type of filter attached to the power armor helmet's coding so if I can identify it, I should just be able to place it into another files coding.

I really only wanted to do it for the Scavenged NCR Armor as it kind of has that metallic feel like it would have a comm system in place.

I would also like to add it to other full face helmets like the assault gas mask if this is even possible to begin with.

I look forward to any help you guys might give me and thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Mello

could you check in the ck if power armor helmets have a script atached to them for that effect or if it just needs a tick of an option in the item window? i dont have the ck installed currently, but i would be interested to know as well

Sweet thanks for the help so far guys! I did just a brief glimpse after I installed the CK last night and couldn't find anything in particular but there is a huge sound file tree that I haven't even scratched so it might be there somewhere, and with a couple extra sets of eyes Im sure we will find it. Can't wait to release my first official mod! :)

I believe the option is somewhere in the Armor or Armor Add-on.

I think this may be it, any thoughts? If this is it theoretically all I have to do is find the armor piece I want and tick the box. The next thing I need to think of is how to package it as an .esp, again I've never done an actual esp before.

I actually read that the modulate voice tick box is something that is left over from a previous version of the creation kit and no longer works as when I check it and click ok and check it the box is unticked. I did find that the power armor is run through Audio Effect Chains as shown below.

Now this is where it gets a little weird to me, below is a picture of what the effect chain window looks like for the power armor helmet voice modulator.

I don't really see any option to associate this audio effect chain to another item even though as seen in picture one it shows that there are 2 item codes associated to the audio effect chain itself. Now for reference I included a picture of what the gas mask armor information as seen in the armor addon section of the file tree (seen below). Again I don't really see an option to associate and audio effect to the item itself. Especially since the the voice modulator tick box no longer works. Maybe some of you Creation Kit veterans are seeing something I'm not since I am completely new to this.

I am kind of stumped at this point and I really appreciate all the help so far and I appreciate any help going forward!
