Colourless and boring Oblivion

I will try to be as thorough as possible when explaining, but do note that I am not from a native English speaking country.

My friend plays Oblivion on a rather crappy 2006 laptop using an external 18,5" flatscreen LG monitor. I play Oblivion on my 2011 brand new laptop using the 15,6" HD LED screen and my laptop is like 20 times better than my friend's. He plays oblivion on the lowest graphical settings with a relatively high resolution and HDR lightning ticked. The colors are amazing on his screen. On my screen however.. the colors are far from nice. The colors are certainly NOT as lively as on my friend's monitor, they're greyish and plainly boring.

I explained this issue to a person on the chat, his/her name is not relevant. This person told me that the screen has little importance for how the output will be, and that LCD screen is like a year old. I was told it could be some settings in the ATi Catalyst Control Center that needs to be overlooked. However.. I know little to nothing about that and could very well make things worse rather than making it better.

My laptop has the following specifications. It is not a monster laptop, it's more of a mediocre one but does the job well in the games I choose to play:

CPU: AMD Athlon II P360 Dual Core 2300Mhz

GPU: AMD Radeon HD/Ati Mobility Radeon 6650M 1GB DDR3 (1Gb dedicated graphics memory, 2.8GB video RAM)

RAM: 4GB DDR3

HDD: 640GB

DVD-Super Multi DL drive

My friend and I use the exact same mods, configurations and graphics settings, yet the colors are more vibrant and lively on his monitor. We play the Game-of-the-year edition patched to 1.2 etc. etc.

Do remember that I know next to nothing when it comes to in-depth graphics settings, so if you feel that you're the one who can help me, then explain in small words and be very thorough. I have checked over and over, I do have the latest driver for my graphics adapter.

If this is of any help at all, I have .NET Framework 2.0 and I run the 2010.1028.1114.18274 version of Catalyst Control Center.

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Theshawty
