huntsman2310a
So this is what happens After a while the game begins to lag a bit, not enough to affect gameplay but its noticeable. The case feels fairly hot. about 10 minutes later or so, the computer makes a brrrrr sound, and a click is heard, the case feels really hot. The screen shuts down. So yeah. This is the problem I've faced since I did a reinstall. I'lll try to help solve my problem by posting a few theorys I have. - The computer is overheating. -Since I only have 45 GB of memory left on my hard drive, its hard pressed to keep the game running for a time. - The processor may be overheating, or the video card, I'm not really a techie. Now I'll tell you what Fallout New Vegas was like the 1st time I installed. It didn't crash. At all. There weren't any glitches at all. It ran like a charm essentially. The only mod I had was unlimited companions. life was suh-weeet. I need to elaborate here, this was vanilla New Vegas, no patches or DLC, this was 1.0. So now that I have posted my theorys and ideas, can you help me?
AlfredTetzlaff
Hi,sorry but I dont think a forum can help you with that. Your first theory is absolutly right, something is overheating. The cause could be a bad fan, lots of dirt (no kidding), blocked airflow or a malfunctioning piece of hardware. If you cannot determine the cause yourself it would be wise to take your rig to a shop. bben46
It's very possible that dirt is clogging up your cooling channels. Cleaning your computer http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Cleaning_your_computer Also, be sure that all fans are working. Be sure that your computer is not in a closed place such as in the closed computer slot in some computer desks. :wallbash: To keep cool, a computer needs to be in a place where it can get fresh air and the fans are not blocked. Another possible cause is a weak power supply. The Power supply that comes with many 'off the shelf' brand name computers is barely strong enough to power the components that came with it. Adding more 'stuff', especially a new graphics board can overload it causing it to heat up and eventually fail, taking out more expensive parts such as the motherboard and Video card. chrisinnyshotgun
From your description, something is definetly overheating. Use the tips in the link provided by bben46. And AlfredTetzlaff is correct - after cleaning your rig, if it's still overheating you should take it to a repair shop. Yes, it will cost you some money, but it beats having to purchase a whole new PC or laptop. Another thing I'd suggest you do is invest in an external hard drive, if you don't have one already. Use it to back up what you want to keep should your PC become damaged - music, movies, photos, ISOs, whatever. I've lost PCs due to damage in the past, and trust me on this - nothing hurts more(computer-wise) than having things you can't find or replace lost forever. Good luck buddy - hopefully your rig is fixable.
