aybayb259
Hey Nexus, so as the title says, this is probably about my 15th time fully modding a Bethesda title going all the way back to Oblivion and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. So essentially what is happening is this; I'm trying to play a heavily modded Fallout 4 Playthrough, and as I started downloading and activating mods, I would double check in game that it was all working fine and had no CTDs. I would always just load up one of my original very lightly modded saves from when the game first came out. And while adding all these new mods, my old saves still worked. So I assumed that making a new game would work too. But, after fully modding my game to my liking, I went to make a new game, and everything was going smoothly; Character Creation, no huge lag spikes, ENB looked okay, and then when the scene came where you and your family are lowered into the Vault, my game immediately crashes. Thinking how odd that is, I went and loaded up one of my old saves and that still worked fine. So I downloaded some nice looking save files where the character was just waiting to exit the Vault and still, crash. So I went around, disabling mods, removing folders, and I oddly found the root of the problem. If I removed my meshes and texture folders from my game folders, any new save would work. But when I put them back in, the game would crash again. Old saves from previous playthroughs would work regardless of the location of the meshes and textures. So my first instinct was that I must have too many graphic intensive mods. So I went and uninstalled pretty much every single retexture mod I had. Still no luck. I'm at a loss for words here, I'm really not too sure what would be causing this. Maybe I'm just being stupid and it's a simple fix. I will attach some basic info too in case that helps. *Before I list all my info, a side note might help, not sure if it's the cause. So originally before I got into heavily modding this playthrough, when I went to install and activate Weaponsmith Extended, it would crash my game upon opening any of the main menu dialogs likes, New, Continue, Load, etc. Not sure what all that was about so I temporarily disabled all Weaponsmith Extended files and that part of the game stopped crashing. Not sure if that has an impact or not but I thought I'd add it just in case. F4SE installed, ENB previously installed but deleted in case it was the cause of the crashing, LOOT used, Bodyslide used PC Specs: Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz 32 °C, Haswell 22nm Technology RAM: 16.0GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (9-9-9-24) Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 (CPUSocket) 33 °C Graphics: 22MP56 (1920x1080@60Hz), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (MSI) 36 °C Storage: 119GB SanDisk SD6SB1M128G1022I (SSD) 24 °C, 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EZEX-22BN5A0 (SATA) 28 °C Optical Drives: ASUS DRW-24F1ST b Audio: Realtek High Definition Audio Load Order (A little different due to files uninstalled because of Weaponsmith Extended problem mentioned earlier: *DLCRobot.esm*DLCworkshop01.esm*DLCCoast.esm*ArmorKeywords.esm*NewCalibers.esp*Loads.esm*Snap'n Build.esm*Homemaker.esm*CROSS_CosmeticFramework.esm*SettlementKeywords.esm*ProjectCommonwealth.esm*Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp*ValdacilsItemSorting-00-ValsPicks-DLCVersion.esp*Leveled_List_Master_RESET.esp*Vertidrones.esp*Witcher - Deleted3507349User
Dunno if it will help, but I create two completely unmodded no-DLC vanilla games (male and female), then run them right up to where they exit the vault and save. When I save them I do it via console and name the save either 'MALE' or 'FEMALE'. Then I install my mods or customize my characters. I did basically the same thing for previous Bethesda titles. The very first section of their games is always script-heavy and this method reduces the chances of things going wrong.

steve40
You should not use old saves, they were made BEFORE the game updates were released. As you would now be using an updated version of the game it will not be backwards compatible with old saves.
