I hate using dvd's and cd's in my pc so i cracked oblivion to work without them, and trying to install OBSE isnt working its saying crc check failed for the oblivion.exe is there anyway around this? on the note i crack all my games even though i have the originals, the bother of having to leave a disk in the pc and take it out to play another one of the 200's games i have on the pc is too much hassle its actually the most annoying thing to do for any gamer. not using OBSE limits me i cant use deadly reflexes or horse fighting spell casting or many other cool mods :( I really dont fancy re-installing the game just to fix it. TheTerminator2004 Posted November 16, 2007 Share Posted November 16, 2007 Well, if you did what any sensible person would do, and made a backup of the original .exe, then you'd be fine. Besides, changing disks takes a matter of seconds, so the only good reason to use a no-cd patch is if the game uses one of those copy-protection programs, which cause slowdown. Oblivion doesn't have anything like that, only a simple DVD check. As for companion mods, try checking out ruined Tail's Tale, it's excellent, although technically it counts as a quest mod, I think. Herolegend Posted November 17, 2007 Author Share Posted November 17, 2007 sorry I didn't back it up because I never thought id be modding so much, but now its like an addiction trying to make the game cooler, i only backed up the structure of the modded version with each mods I put on and the game worked i would back it up. I cant agree with you there, as I dont just stick to one game at a time, i play others like Timeshift, Jericho vampire masquerade, Sin Episodes, Half life, spell force 2, and another 10 others because thats just me when i get bored of one thing, i go play another, then i come back to the other games, so i fix a no dvd and it solves my problem of having to insert and eject disks all the time is so much hassle, I'm sure thats another reason why they have no dvd's there for starters + it saves time overall in having to switch disks, bottom line its a bother to switch disks and its also safe guards the disks that are always kept in their boxes, there are so many things that you benefit from having no dvd fixes. I just wish i backed up my installation structure before i started modding, I guess i could install it to a different directory and copy the oblivion exe back to the main game dir with the mods maybe that works? but then id have to wait till i free up some space ungh so much trouble lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Herolegend Posted November 18, 2007 Author Share Posted November 18, 2007 If you ride Rhianna's horse its classified as stolen which is wrong cause she is supposed to be your best friend since kids? lol its a smart mod but not incredibly advanced AI but with some tweaks it could be perfect then all you need is everyone to follow in scripting companions the right way. sometimes she has trouble getting on her horse and its funny cause shes walking around the horse and not getting on it, eventually she will though just have to move around a bit, how it works for me. austinrocks Posted November 19, 2007 Share Posted November 19, 2007 Yeah there are some AI problems, her not getting on her horse, I have not tried to ride the Unicorn, I might try that and see if I get a stolen horse credit. Being a theif that is a good thing, I am now playing as a mage and am not sure if its good or not to my stats. Riding a Unicorn should be fun. I have seen the bug where she does not get on the horse. Another bug I noticed is that Rhianna will change out of her armour if she is talking to someone. Its hard to talk to her when my character is on a horse. Also I wish there was a rumours selection, I would like to just talk to Rhianna and can not do that, but she does talk to other characters in game. I have gone to the Direct2Drive games, they don't require a disk, they have a code that I only need to use once to activate the game. The game disk I have had wear out my drives so I avoid them if I can. http://www.direct2drive.com/ and they have some games that I could find anywhere else. I played the Playboy the Mansion and modified it a lot to get the girls naked, however the Playboy Private Party does not have an American Version. However Direct2Drive had a version. I also have a Vista System and a lot of games wont play on my Vista System. Everything I have downloaded works and usually I don't need the patch. The downloads can take a while, Oblivion with Shimering Isles was three downloads, Oblivion was two files each about 2.1 Gigabits, my DSL system took a couple hours to down load each file and I did lose my connection a couple times, but as you said its a lot better than having to run the disks. TheTerminator2004 Posted November 19, 2007 Share Posted November 19, 2007 The only time I've ever found any reason to use a no-cd crack for a game was when I was experimenting with a Windows emulator for Linux, and I had to use a crack to get around the problems it has with copy protection. I play lots of games, I probably have about thirty sitting on a shelf just above my monitor, so I can reach them easily when I decide to change games. Besides, No-cd cracks are just cracks people have made so that they can use illegal copies of the game. The fact that it also means you don't need the disk is just a handy side-effect.
