Trupe
This is a really rough sketch idea I guess, and I have absolutely NO modding experience with fallout 4, which means I'm not even sure if it possible to do this. Nor do I know whether my suggestions will be good ones. That said, here we go! Crafting stations are pretty important for fallout 4, and the cooking stations are quite necessary for survival mode more specifically. Unfortunately, not every settlement you want to use has a particular crafting station. How do you get around that? Well you can build one. Unfortunately, that requires you to invest a moderate amount of spec/perk points into charisma, which might not fit your current build. Not only that, even if you have the speCial stats for it, you still need to invest not one, but two perk points into the perk. That doesn't even mention the level 14 level requirement. On the other hand, the likelihood of you passing by a crafting station out in the wilds of the commonwealth, while not neccessarily low, are at least uncommon. So, what is a low charisma character to do? Well, what if he could just snatch that unused chemistry station near the fatman wielding, power armor wearing asshole in Lexington, broke his back walking it to starlight drive-in, and dropped it on the mole rat corpse outside his front door. Here's what I'm thinking of as far as specifics. How to pick it up: Option 1: make it so that when you crouch next to a crafting station, the X option becomes "pick up" you then do so. The crafting station is removed from the environment. Option 2: Attach the entire process to a gun. You make it work like the junk jet or the syringer. Press X to load an ammo type. The main ones will be "pick up 'bullets'" when you shoot a crafting station, you get a corresponding station "bullet" (cooking 1, cooking 2 cooking 3 etc in the case of having different types of stations.) Putting down: Option 1: You drop it and it spawns so and so far away in front of you. Option 2: You take your station bullet, load it into your rusty gun, and shoot it. Where the bullet lands is where the thing spawns. Make it so the weapon has to charge like a gauss rifle before being able to be fired if possible. That'll prevent accidental discharge into endless horizon. Weight: The stations should be heavy. Like very heavy. No matter which form they may take in the inventory, be it the station itself or a bullet, it must be heavy. Something that'd make a 1 end survival character have to choose between going in naked with a switchblade, or preserving his modesty with some basic clothing and letting his fists do the talking. Ideas?Comments?Concerns? I'll try to read and respond to 'em all. And I am open to feedback and opinions. Oh, and for those who say use tgm in the console: I don't have it enabled in survival mode (which is why I would like this mod.) I'm terribly soft in the self discipline department, so I often find myself opening the console, particularly for things like this. However, I don't want to go "oh, I might as well give myself one piece of so and so since its being an ass and not spawning for me despite the fact that I just checked over there." Hopefully a mod like this will remove the frustration of not having local leader (despite the fact that the first rank itself is even more desirable than this for survival.) The "bullets" should be heavy. Like very heavy. Something that'd make a 1 end survival character have to choose between going in naked with a switchblade, or preserving his modesty with some basic clothing and letting his fists do the talking. StarChaserTyger
Something similar to this I thought might be nice is 'rescue a couple of guys with a pickup / front end loader' quest, and as a reward, at one of your settlements you get them. They give you marking grenades, like the Minutemen artillery grenades, and you can mark gear like cooking stations, generators, etc, to have them picked up. Wouldn't even need to animate them, just a radio message 'Ok, boss, we're on it' and the things vanish sometime when you're not there. There's a bunch of random generators around that aren't being used that I've longed to be able to steal and repurpose. One of the metro stations has a raider settlement built up around it that has two medium generators, an armor and a weapon workbench and at least one cooking station. "Crime pays, take -everything-".
